I live in BC Canada, and today (Monday) is thanksgiving. For most Canadians, it is a time to be thankful for whatever we have. Most reflect on family, friends, and health.
In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians used to give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north.
We usually eat a turkey, potatoes, yams, veggies, and have a pumpkin pie. It is a statutory holiday, so most places are closed.
Hope that helps.
