What is the right age for ear piercings?

I just want to know what age is the right age to get my daughters ears pierced?
She is 5 weeks old.

I don't know when to get them done.

There is no "right" age - I'm waiting until she's old enough to ask.

No girls here and would never let my boys do it haha...but if I have a girl I've always said I'd wait until she asks and I feel she is ready to take care of them. Just using my boys for examples...my 2nd is really mature for his age so say he was a girl, had he asked around age 5 I'd have let "her"...my 3rd who is almost 5 now is really immature and I know he'd never take care of them and probably would mess with them constantly so if he was a she and asked I would say no at this age. But whatever age we decided "she" was mature enough and she wanted them we'd make it a special mommy/daughter day and take her to have it done

Yeah, I may be old-fashioned, but I think 10 years old is quite early enough.

In my opinion, of course.

any age. But I think it is best to let your child decide if she wants piercing. I feel it similar to imposing tattoo (whichever you think looks pretty on her) on HER body. Who knows, She may even partipate a religion that forbid cutting on the skin (I've been churches that feel that way about earrings and such)

It seem girls and women have no say to their body the things they have to go through from infant for beauty and culture.

I've seen arguments about if they have them as babies, they won't touch it and get infections....and won't remember the pain, and yet it seem everywhere I go, I've seen piercing on the tongue, navel, extra set of ear piercings, tattoos...All done in their adult years, not when they were babies. Therefore, people can wait til they're adults to make a decision.

I think about 9 or 10 is the right age, maybe sooner if they te mature enough to make aure they ate looked after, as long as they can ask for it themselves. It's there body and really should be their decision xx

I was 7 years old when I got mine done and I think that's about the right age for my LO too, assuming she wants it done lol

I was 7, almost 8, when I had mine pierced, after I'd been begging my mum for a year to let me lol. I'll definitely wait until LO asks and is mature enough to look after her piercings afterwards, so 7 at the earliest I think. I hate seeing babies with pierced ears anyway, think they should make the decision for themselves, plus they're perfect without the need for jewellery at that age!

I would say when they can ask for them and understand the importance of not touching them, keeping them clean etc. I would let my daughter get her'd done for her 13th birthday If I had a daughter x

When she's old enough to ask for it herself, and when she's responsible enough to deal with the pain and look after them properly. Somewhere between 7-10 years I expect.

I only have a boy but if I had a girl it would be when she was old enough to ask and then I'd wait until I was 100% certain they wanted it done. (please don't shoot me down but I don't like babies or young children with their ears peirced)

First of all this was not meant to open a can of worms.

Secondly I'm not taking away choice. She can easily take them out if she doesnt like it.

Thirdly my mum never got my ears pierced and I wish she did as I would have liked them to be done and I have never got them done due to a needle phobia. So I wish she got them done for that reason. I don't want her to want them but has the same phobia as me and not get them done.
