Is it something i eat?? And it makes them constipated?

Poor lo has been really struggling yesterday and today to poo, and when she does its really hard.

Any advice??

:flower:xx

the poop is really hard? is she exclusively breastfed? constipation in exclusively breastfed babies is rare. if your LO is exclusively breastfed and passing hard pebble like stools CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR, right now.
if you supplement with formula that could be the reason.
:hugs:

Like vanessayogini said, constipation in exclusively breastfed babies is rare. My Ezio was constipated when I was on a course of medication that listed constipation as a side effect. Please talk to your Doctor.

my lo is constipated due to gaviscon. he never was before he started taking that tho. def contact your dr just to be on the safe side x

I wouldnt panic, but yeah if she is in pain take her to the doc. My lo is exclusively breastfed and like above, gaviscon is what made him constipated. He was in agony and his stools were very dry and pastey, you really had to brush it off him rather than wipe it off (sorry tmi) whereas usually they are like water!

Yep she is exclusivley breastfed.... Oh dears, am a tad worried...
But shes getting her second lot of jabs tomorrow, so i will ask the doctor then!

Thankyous =)

xx

My son is 4 weeks old and is breastfed bar one bottle of formula on a night. he's always regular and usually has lots of pooey nappies a day. however on friday i noticed he had only had wet nappies, so eventually after 24 hours of only wet nappies i rang nhs direct (by now it was sat and i didnt know who else to ring on a sat) they told me its normal fo breastfed babies to go up to a week without a soiled nappy because breatmilk has little or no waste for babies to pass. i saw my health visiter today who told me the same and not to worry so long as baby isnt in any discomfort or their tummy isnt enlarged. i would still check with the doctor but i dont think its anything to worry about.

...a lack of dirty nappies is different from hard poos though :thumbup:
