I'm reading to my 10 month old and books like 'dear zoo' have a selection of animals i feel obliged to make the noises for. Lions and snakes always get a great reception from my LO but i struggle with elephants and paticularly camels. I tend to go 'grump grump grump' for the grumpy camels. Any alternatives out thre? Thanks!

Haha! My girls love this book. I always do a sort of grumpy "Hmmmph!" for a camel. As for the elephant, I just make any old noise and pretend my arm is my trunk! My brother is amaaazing at an elephant noise, but I just sound ridiculous if I try it.

Hahaha! This is so funny as I encountered this exact problem at bedtime. I made a kind of 'hoooo' noise without thinking but luckily at 2.5 LO doesnt know any better. Maybe some googling needed before Dear Zoo again.

Camels are really miserable. I *think* they might make a creaky sort of sighing sound when they are made to do anything - sort of like an 'Aaah-aaah', through the nose.

I am basing this on a game I used to play (Age of Mythology, and the camels that you were meant to use to carry gold were lazy, moaning, thick twats) so don't quote me on that ... :haha:

I did grumpy grumpy grumpy as well. The worst one is the giraffe!

With my DS I pulled a grumpy face with my bottom lip sticking right out, and even now when he is in a mood I call him a grumpy camel. With the giraffe I made an ascending noise and looooooooong neck, and it was a good couple of years before he called it a giraffe and not long neck. The things you do!

Camels spit!
For a camel I say "patooey!"

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who makes a spitting noise for the camel! My oh thought I was bonkers. for the giraffe I do a weird lip chewing movement as though I'm munching leaves from a tall branch...
