what should I expect from an early assessment scan - and is it too early?

I've been treated wondefully by the nhs just because i had a mc last time, scan every 2 weeks

The care I am being given this time round is astounding compared to the distinct lack of care for all the other babies.... I am in the best hands I could possibly be in and that is definately reassuring.

None yet! They haven't offered me any and I forget to ask! somehow!

Definately going to remember to ask at the next one, my 9 week scan!

Yes, at long last a Dr who listened and a specialist who gives a damn after so many who couldn't care less... is such a relief.

OH My GOSH all of this is sooo confusing....

I too go for an early ultra-sound (confirmation of pregnancy is what my dr. calls it ) on 04/15 next friday!

at that time the dr. thnks i should be 7+3 according to my last period date.

I dont think so... one internet calulator says im 5+1 today and once says im 4+6 today... yet another calcualtor says im 6+1...so if the lowest one is right by the time my ultrasound gets here i will only 6+1.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hi Effy hun, you do sound a bit confused!! Let me see if I can help with your dates (I'm not an expert, but I'll try to help). When was your last period (first day of proper flow) and how long are your cycles? Is there something which might have caused you to get so many different EDDs? Have you had any weird periods since your last proper flow (I did, hence asking) and did you have any -ve HPTs which might narrow your dates down some more? Your first scan should tell you how old your babe is, but I guess you don't want to wait until then! If babe doesn't look at far along as your doctor says then you will be asked back. If babe looks older than originally thought then I guess you just carry on with your scans as normal?

Early scans can be scary but they are reassuring once you know that the sonographer is seeing what they expect to see! My DH was very surprised that it wasn't a belly ultrasound .
