Newborn or 0-3 months?

My due date's New Years Eve and I'm so confused. I'm apparently measuring spot on in terms of belly measurement thingy the MW does and my family has big fat babies and my in-laws have small little babies.

So if she's born on or around time she'll probably need her snowsuit for at least three months right?

So should I buy the 0-3 and then go and buy a newborn one after she's born IF it ends up being too big?

Also, I saw a 4 day old baby in the hospital (she was ADORABLE!!!! :cloud9:) and I couldn't believe how tiny she was!!!! I was kinda hoping I'd lose more of my tummy but if that's all that's coming out then there's gonna be a whole load of junk still in there after the birth.

In terms of your bump, don't forget that placenta and fluid has to come out as well. Think some of the belly stays for a while, but goes down quicker if you are planning on breast feeding I think.

Pramsuit - I've got both sizes, but only because they were given to me. Could you wait until she's born and get the one that fits? You could always wrap her up in a blanket to leave the hospital?
My baby is measuring 40 something percentile, and my fundal height is 1cm smaller than spot on so assuming the newborn ones are going to fit but I've packed some 0-3 sleepsuits in my hospital bag as well, just in case....

I was looking at these the other day. Think ive decided on a 0-3 months, then it should do her the rest of the winter.

I've bought 0-3 months in pramsuits and snowsuits. I have also bought newborn sized clothes but only in vests and sleepsuits (and a little jacket for going home in).

It's so hard to know what size to buy isn't it. I have washed all of my baby clothes so if baby is too big for newbron, I can't take it back!!

i have both, but tbh there is sometimes not much in it sizewise and the 0-3 will do from birth

Heeey =) I'm due the same day as you and measuring the same! My OH was 6lbs and I was 4lbs so thinking our little one will be tiny tiny!! I brought 0-3 months thinking I could layer up underneath if its toooo cold or just the fact she could grow into it :) xX

It's exciting though isn't it!?!?!?

:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

I think I'll go with the bigger one for now too. If she swims in it she can swim. Hopefully she'll fatten up soon enough.

This is the one I really love by the way:

And the UNIQUE thing about it is that OH loves it too. Don't think he's loved any clothes before so now I HAVE to get it. :cloud9:

Even though Im predicted a larger baby (hardehar) I have one Newborn (up to 10lbs) and two 0-3. Also have a newborn pramsuit that I was given in with mountains of other items!
Even though my son was 8lb13oz he still was in newborn for about 6 weeks and 0-3 would have been TOO big for him for at least the first month.
I think Id be careful of having something very very large, if you have a 7lb baby and they are in snowsuits for up to 14lb it may ride up into their face or be very large around the neck/shoulders letting out a lot of body heat and also obstructive proper air flow around the nose and mouth....maybe just look on ebay etc for a newborn snowsuit, then you are only spending a small amount and can put it straight back on ebay if you find its too small from the off.

if just buying one i'd recommend 0-3 at first  as with clothes underneath them they can be tighter i found :D as maddi was a big 9lb 3.5 oz, and very long so newborn wasn't that good! though saying that i was the women who brought a 0-3month snowsuit for a june baby :dohh: enjoy ladies :D

I've been given 3 as presents so very lucky, I have 1 newborn & 2 0-3 so I should be covered xxx

My mum bought ours and it's 0-3 months - that way bean can grow into it over the winter, may have to end up getting a bigger one though as seem to have abllooned in the last week!!!

I have 4 0-3 ones cos its so cold up here and they will get dirty, ill prob need a 3-6 one aswell for up to 4.5 months ish is when its still cold here, wasnt gonna get a newborn one, if the ones i have a truly too big ill put her in a newborn slwwpsuit and a 0-4 sleepsuit ontop, and i have a few jackets. x

well i got a newborn pramsuit/snowsuit thing in the mothercare sale for £15 a while back and then my family are getting me a 0-3 month one.

If i was only going to get one then i think it'd be 0-3 months and then layer up underneath

what cosy babies we will have! :)

I'd recommend getting a newborn one, and a 0-3 one. The difference between those 2 sizes can be huge, depending on where you get them from. Have you tried Asda or Tesco? They're not too expensive, and they have some really cute ones :D Even then, be aware that baby clothes can be sized big. My baby wasn't teeny (7lbs 1.5oz at birth) and here's a pic of her in a "newborn" size snowsuit:

A lot of "newborn" sized clothes I've seen seem to be 8lbs-10lbs, which is a lot, to my mind! Or maybe Romilly just was teeny, and I'm in denial or something  But we had to buy "early baby" stuff for her from Tesco, and she was only 1 day early :P

I'd get a 0-3 mont snowsuit and make sure you have a couple little blankets.

If baba is small it wont rally matter if the suit is big on them or you can just wrap in a couple blankets....blankets are easier to adjust too if they get too warm.

Deffo newborn.

I personally thin 0-3 will be far to big. Amber was 8lb 10oz, newborn was big on her, as there up to around 10-12lbs anyways.

Not good have them to big

Hi

I'm due the same day and am going with a newborn one to come home and then I have a couple of 0-3 once bean starts plumping out.

x

Well we got ours in 0-3 because i am measuring along the top line of my growth chart which if you follow it up to 40 weeks, gives us a 4.4kg baby!!!

Now i know this could well be wrong and we could end up with a 7lber, which is fine, but if that's the case we'll probably go out afterwards and buy another snowsuit which fits better. But i didn't want to get a newborn size one to only have it fit baby for a couple of weeks, during which we probably won't be going anywhere (if you see what i mean?!)

We have a little padded, hooded jacket in newborn size which will do for the trip home from the hospital as you can always put a blanket over as well, and our carseat has a cosy-toes foot muff thingy
