Hi all,
I'm not sure if it's too early for me to join this section or not but I'm getting an ultrasound in a week and I just wondered what to expect. I've waited so long for the appointment I'm now worrying that they won't tell me anything until my doc has the results? If they see cysts or anything, will they tell me or will I be waiting until my next doc appt?
Been TTC since july 08 after coming off ovranette after 11yrs. Have always had regular AF but it stopped 98 days ago. It so frustrating! I'd be grateful for any help or advice x x x

Hi hun

This won't be a huge amount of help as I haven't had one, but OH has and they told him then and there what they could see. They then wrote to consultant and he decided on the treatment.

Sorry it didn't help much, but FX for you hun.

Thanx Mrs G, that is a big help, I've just been so disappointed with doctors that it wouldn't have surprised me to wait a bit longer! I'm so impatient!
Xx

I know what you mean. The dr will have told them why they want you to have the ultrasound so I'd def ask the radiographer what they've been told to look for and also if they'll tell you what they've found.

Ive ad one hun and they told me there and then that I had PCOS. x x x

Thanx diddydons, the doc did mention pcos to me too so it's possible I have the same.
Hope u don't mind but I've read your story about your gorgeous daughter, a very similar thing happened to a friend of mine last year. It's so sad x

Hi Hun

With the scan, its usualy done internally. It is a bit uncomfortable, but its manageable. I have had many scans, and with my 1st experience, this had nothing to do with ther fertility departement they advised me straight away that I had cysts. And also with ther fertility department my experience, they are usually open to what they see. I have always been able to ask questions and generally they are very helpfull.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the scan.

Hi hun,

in having a pelvic ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound next Thursday. As far as I know they will do a scan like they do when your pregnant, and this will show a picture of your womb and overies, then the transvaginal is where they go inside you to get a more detailed view of the lining of your womb and ovaries. I think a report is then sent to your doctor so you can discuss the results.
Good luck!

I had a scan done this week and was very nervous because I didnt know what to expect but I found it a lot less invasive than I imagined. Personally I found the internal scan less traumatic than a smear test, its never great fun haha but its really not that bad at all.

The Dr who gave me my scan talked me through everything on the screen and what she was doing when she measured my uterus and ovaries. She then showed me all the cysts and said she believed I had PCOS. I wasnt sure if they found anything whether or not they would say but it seems they do so you should be a little wiser by the end of that appointment.

Best of luck, I hope it goes well for you but dont be too nervous its really not that bad :)
