I'm so terrified for next week. I've always hated needles.

I haven't had one, but my mom had one with both her pregnancies and says they were no big deal at all. She didn't feel much pain and it was over really quickly.

I had an amnio at 15 weeks and it was fine. Barely felt the needle and it was over quickly. I kept my eyes on the ultrasound monitor bc I was interested in seeing the process from that angle. The doctor I had was very experienced and reassuring throughout the whole process as was the US tech and nurse. The doctor showed me the collected fluids, although I understand not everyone would be interested in seeing that. When she was done the tech checked his hb, I was asked if I had any questions or concerns and was told to take my time getting up. The nurse even helped me just to be sure I was okay. It was a good experience for me.

We had FISH results in about 3 business days letting us know that the aneuploidies on 13 and 18 detected by Verifi were confined to the placenta (all NIPTs check placental DNA, only amnio tests fetal DNA) and our little boy is healthy. Full karotyping was back in about 2 weeks confirming the FISH results.

I also really enjoyed the pre-amniocentesis ultrasound, as did my husband.

I have never had acupuncture but I had read beforehand that some would compare it to that.

Hope all goes well for you!
