I think it all just depends. OH and I make about $50,000 combined yearly. We live fine. Would I like to have a little more? Of course.

It depends on where you live and what you pay out, we are on £30k a year and some months we struggle and others we are fine.

I think it depends on area & situation. We earn approx £40k between us (DH £30k Me £10k) & have a comfortable living. We have a next to nothing mortgage (£2.5k left) but we pay £400pm on a car because we can afford to easily & we wanted it .

I'd say where I live, £25k for a single person would be a comfortable standard wage based on renting prices in my town (there are a lot cheaper areas near though).

My OH earns 15k GBP ($30k NZ) per year and that's just not enough, if I budget really well we have a 20pound short fall every week, that's only if we don't use a lot of power.
He's an apprentice though so at least it's not forever =/ Average wage here is about 26k GBP I believe. Basically everyone in NZ is skint whith huge cost of living but pretty happy

I really think it depends on where you live and personal circumstances. OH earns about £40k (self employed) and I earn £42k (pro rate from £52.5k full time) so over £80k joint. But we live in surrey, 15 miles from central London. It is ridiculously expensive to live here so although we don't struggle, we are certainly not well off! Our child are bill for 3 days per week = £900 per month, and our mortgage is £1200 per month. So I think it's relative to the money we earn xx
