When did u uk girls get your whooping cough inj?

I'm booked in a fortnights time son ill be 32 and a bit weeks.

I had mine at 28 weeks exactly.
I'd advise having not having it in your left arm if you sleep on your left side. I wouldnt have been able to sleep on it.

Had mine only 3 days ago and I'm 34 weeks today, was bit late getting it as wasn't even told about it til 31 weeks and then kept forgetting to ring the docs lol, but the nurse said it will still work fine.

I agree with the pp about deciding on what arm to have it in, luckily I had read about the side effects and people saying how bruised/achey their arm felt so even though I'm right handed I chose to have it in my right arm as I always sleep on my left side and it def would've been painful to sleep on x

I had mine today at 28+6. The nurse was lovely, even when I embarrassed myself by crying (this is a miracle baby and I was so nervous about the jab). The only side effect so far has been a sore arm. Bump has been kicking me just as much as usual, so all seems well.

I'm personally not having it

It's definitely new as I only gave birth last may and it wasn't offered

It's because of an outbreak recently of it in children

They recommend between 28 and 38 weeks but my husband and I decided against it. It's not compulsory

I didn't have the flu jab either

They have stopped doing it in my area.

Ohh do you know why? I'm sure there are some ppl with reservations who have already had children as it's a new thing

So do we not actually NEED it?!

My MW said when babe is due it wont be the season for whooping cough and the vac wasnt having a impact anyway.

I think it's personal preference. They've never done it before

My midwife just told me its being recommended now but it's completely up to me whether to take it or not. She didn't push me either way

I called (one of) my midwife to check today, and she said " Oh - has it never been mentioned to you?". I felt like saying if there had been some consistency resulting in me seeing at least one midwife more than one time, rather than a different one at each appt, that maybe they might know their arse from their elbow. Instead, I politely said no, it hadn't been mentioned to me. Apparently they do still do it, by mother's choice of course and I can go get it anytime.

So for those who have never had it mentioned, might be worth a word with your midwife. x

Numbers aren't that high in the north west.

If I can get it until 38 weeks ill just wait til my 32 weeks appointment and chat to her then.

See what she suggests.

I didn't have the flu jab either

Yeah - IF I decide to have it ill be at least 34 weeks as want to speak to a specialist about it due to a family reaction.

Personally I take the view that it is worth getting... For a little bit of pain in your arm for a few days you can protect your baby against something that has been getting increasingly more common recently - I don't think it's worth the risk to not get the jab for baby's health

I completely respect your views and decision but for me there just isn't enough research on it. They've never tested it on pregnant women as pregnant ladies aren't included in trials. I'm just cautious due to it being so new and due to not being offered it last year. I know they've given it in America for a long time but its a different version.

I may be being overly cautious but I just feel happier not having it

It might depend on what area you are in. I checked the stats for my area and they were quite high. https://www.hpa.org.uk/hpr/archives/2013/news1913.htm#prtsss

Actually these stats and graphs have convinced me to have the jab. The 'outbreak' last year is very clear to be seen, and although the cases are on the downward trend now, they are still significantly higher than previous years. Thanks for the link xx
