When did u uk girls get your whooping cough inj?

I'm glad i had it at my 28 week appointment, although be warned made me sick for two days, headache from hell so much so gave me a sore neck. Just generally made me feel poo!! And yeah not forgetting the sore arm for a week. HOWEVER I couldn't live with myself if baby got the cough and I may have been able to help. You decide after mother knows best.

I'm so glad I got it after seeing the rate of incidents in my area!! It made me feel grotty for several hours after getting it but I don't regret it for a second

That is how I feel - I'd never forgive myself if my baby got the infection and I could have prevented it. A newborn baby and becoming a FTM will be hard enough without worrying about his breathing in my opinion plus there isn't enough evidence for Scotland for me to base my decision on the drop/rise in recent years.

Some Scottish stats.
Personally I'm opting out of this as I did with the flu.
Not enough research done for me

The nurse also told me that baby would get an injection when she was 8 weeks old, this was just to cover her until then.

I had mine today at 28+6. The nurse was lovely, even when I embarrassed myself by crying (this is a miracle baby and I was so nervous about the jab). The only side effect so far has been a sore arm. Bump has been kicking me just as much as usual, so all seems well.

Ohhh bless you!!! I've just read the link a lady has just put on-Sarah I think-and I read the comments below and found them interesting. Some mums found their babies kicked less after jab for a day-anyone find this? That could be a coincidence though as I get the odd day of bubs having a rest. Either way im still as confused. IF NONE of the vaccine gets to my baby im more tempted to have it as id relax more in their few weeks. Basically 50 yrs ago when they gave the live wc vaccine my half sister seizured so badly on both occasions (so third injection omitted) she was left brain damaged which was discovered when she turned 4 as didn't progress from this age mentally. I was therefore never given it. IF I decide to vaccinate my baby ill titrate-so 0.1mg instead of 1g in a hospital setting, so a tenth of the dose and go from there but im absolutely terrified and could lose him mentally or phyically either way if I vaccinate or not-ie if he were to get wc. I don't want to avoid socialising with my baby to avoid him catching it but at the same time ill be so nervous-he is my life afterall.

Anyway enough about my dilemma. If anyone has any information or knowledge on this though id be eternally grateful. Or about whether the vaccine ingredients themselves get to baby or just the antibodies we produce when given in pregnancy.

I never had the flu jab with my 1st two children as I didn't see the need. I tout it was to protect ME not the newborn. I had a nurse sit down and explain to me at my12week scan that it did indeed protect the baby and I had no hesitation in getting it then. The same with the whooping cough, it will cover the baby till it gets it first jabs. I saw a video of a baby with whooping cough and it brought me to tears. I could not take the risk, however small it may be xx

Hi...My baby was totally sluggish for 2 days after my jab (Monday 20th). I got so worried I actually called the Assessment Centre to get checked this afternoon. Had my jab on Monday and it only occurred to me when they asked how long i'd been feeling reduced movements that it could have been the jab. Baby was absolutely fine and started being more active this evening.

Has anyone else had this. It could be a heads up for those yet to get theirs so they don't freak out. My sore arm's already gone, went to bed so early for the last 2 days (6pm!). Apart from that I had no other symptoms. I would do it again for any of my other babies in a heartbeat (if it still poses a threat then).

This is the the kind of thing that makes me concerned about having it..... what on earth does it do to make a growing baby's movements and pattern change I wonder. The whole thing about the long term effects (and short term it seems) not being known is a worry. Still not sure what to do!

My midwifes recommended me to have it at 30weeks so I have to book my appointment for it nearer the time ;-)

For me I think the baby was just responding to my body and not directly to the jab. I only felt more tired than usual for 2 days and when I went in for monitoring baby was actually moving though I wasn't feeling all of it. I'd still strongly recommend getting it rather than taking the risk after birth.

Yep I had mine at 28 weeks. Arm ached for a day and had a warm itchy bump for a week. All ok tho.

I had my jab on Thursday, had a sore/heavy arm all day on Friday and part of Saturday but otherwise no other side effects - baby was just as active and always and have felt fine since :)
