When did you increase to 5+ ounces?

Oscar is nearly 3 weeks and taking 7 4oz bottles a day but I think he would like more. And it might mean he sleeps more than 3 hours at night!

But health visitor basically implied he shouldn't be having more than 4ozs at this age. Is that right?

I think DS1 went up to 5ozs at about 5 weeks but he struggled to feed and lost lots of weight so it was different - aim was to give him as much as possible.

What age did everyone increase above 4ozs?

My LO is 17 days old and I do 5oz bottles now..he usually takes 4oz but will sometimes take closer to the 5..I upped to 5 as he only goes 2hrs between most bottles but averages out at 10ish bottles a day.

I had this worry as well my lil girl is 3wks today but she has been on 5oz since about 4days ago she doesn't always take it tho but still make that is up as was told by HV that she shouldn't finish a bottle as ther should always be something left to show she has had enough. during the day she feeds 3-4hrs and takes between 3-5oz at night she is 4-5hrs and takes between 4-5oz 1hv said the same as u that she shouldn't really b on more than 4oz n if wakes hungry before 3-4hrs to try cooled boiled water but then the other HV said to up feed wen required as every baby is different and may take 6z 1 feed then 3 the next etc etc depending on how hungry they are

If he wants more, give him more. Babies self regulate and no one can say a baby should have x amount at x age, that's nonsense. If your lo is draining 4 oz. bottles and still sucking when it's empty, up his bottles to 5 ounces. You know lo has had enough when they leave about 1/4 to 1/2 oz. or so in the bottle and don't want anymore.

My little girl is 17 weeks and has 5oz at each feed. All babies are all different like other post have put if they are draining them give them what they want. They will tell you when they are full.

A week. He's now almost 4 weeks and taking 7oz! According to the tub that's the average a 4 month old should be taking but he's hungry and he wants it. You might find by offering extra your LO goes longer between feeds as he's drinking more and staying fuller. LO went to 6oz at 2.5 weeks and we changed him to 7 yesterday. You can't over feed a baby they'll just throw it up.. I can't believe your HV told you that. Sounds like she wants you to starve him lol!! If he wants it give it to him xxx

Was wondering same thing! 16 day old draining 5oz bottles today, wondered is soothing his oral thrush rather than being hungry? But not throwing back up milk all the time, kept last 2feeds down and they were 5oz!

Our little man is having 5oz every 3-4 hours, he's draining them though so might consider upping him to 6oz soon, he's 6 weeks old
