I breastfeed. My LO will be 3 months one week on Saturday.

we started him when he was 6 months but i know some people start them earlier

I started my eldest at 4 months and it was a big mistake it made him extremely constipated and as an older child he is an extremely fussy eater. My other boys I started at 6 months and we skipped the rice cereal or any other type of baby porridge completely. With my youngest and also my second eldest we did baby led weaning and I think we will do the same with this baby xx

We skipped rice cereal completely, it's not a very good food. I waited till right around six months then just introduced small bits of food. I know it's tempting and exciting to start solids with your first baby, but especially for a breastfed baby, you open up a can of worms that can't be closed again....stinky poop, constipation, upset belly, etc....all common in new eaters.

I breastfed mine exclusively for six months then started straight on vegetables and fruit, never did rice cereal.

I started at 6 months, skipped cereal and just introducing various fruits and veggies for now.

I do a bit of both, TW and BLW.

I fed her yam purée while she fed herself green beans and pears today. She'a 6 1/2m right now.

I ebf and completely skipped rice cereal-absolutley no need for it. We went to pureed veggies and fruit at 4 months. Honestly, I regret starting at 4 months. It was too early and not recommended. I stopped after a few weeks then started back up at 6 months. I am going to wait until 6 months for the next one for sure.

I added a bit to some milk here and there at 4 months at my mothers suggestion. I didnt want to but I was ebf and he went through a couple growing periods where I just couldn't feed him enough. It did help but I only did it once a day for a couple days and then not again until another week or so. Then I stopped until 6 months. I didnt start any solids until 6 months. He showed lots of interest from 3 months on though! Right now he eats a lot and many different things. We also do tw and blw.

We didn't do rice cereal. She didn't have any solids until six months. She was/is breastfed.

No rice cereal for Sophie. Breastfeeding only until 6 months and then she just ate regular foods.

Rice cereal is basically junk food so we skipped it and started Violet on finger foods when she showed signs of readiness. She was a week short of 6 months. We didn't do true "Baby Led Weaning," as BLW involves having them self-feed. Violet seemed ready for solids before she had the coordination to pick up the soft squishy foods we were starting her on. She had the opportunity to practice, but we did a lot of the feeding for her early on. At about 9 months, she got good at feeding herself. I think rice cereal is a place to start, but I think the choice to use it is more about the parents' comfort zone than what is ideal for the baby.

Abby was breastfed. I gave Abby rice cereal once at 6 months. Wasn't happening, she took one bite and refused to open back up. So we moved onto carrots which went over much better.

I would hold off til 6 months honestly. It's messy, diapers get nasty, and its just an added pain in the butt.

I combi feed. I started my twins on cereal with fruit mixed through it at 5 months. They love it and needed it. I only feed them this once a day at the moment. I rotate it with veg puréed, mashed banana with bm. It was the right time for them.
I have tried them with rice but they hate it. I think the cereal
Is wheat based?

We tried baby rice with her but she hated it. OH tried it and said it "has the consistency of a bogey and tastes like paper" xD so we have her pear puree, which she loved! Started around 4 months, and honestly I wasn't expecting it to make such a difference but I was willing to try anything! But for some reason she became so much more settled and happy, constipation became a thing of the past! She was a very good eater until she learned that she coud blow raspberries with good in her mouth :L but now the novelty of blowing raspberries seems to have warn off and she's a good eater again :)

We used the ellas kitchen pouches at first and just put a dollop on the end of her baby spoon at first to gauge her reaction... The next day she had a couple of baby spoonfuls and we just gradually built up that way, if she was wanting more we increased the amount, but I was a bit nervous about giving her too much... After a week or so of just giving little bits I started giving her 1/3 of the pouch (not sure how much that is amount wise I'm afraid) now I'm making good for her but still use the fruit pouches if we go out etc and she'll have the whole pouch then cry when it's gone!

When we moved to homemade good I was giving her 2 icecubes worth if that's any help? (I measure things in strange ways...)

My LO is 17 weeks and I'm giving him Ella's Kitchen Baby Porridge once a day. He was taking a 9ozs bottle every 3 hours but was bringing most of it back up so he was obviously hungry but the milk was too much for him. I wanted to wait til he was 6months but he needed it before then. xx
