When did your baby start taking longer naps?

My lo is nearly 6 months and has always been a cat napper. Although in the last week or so he's had one short nap in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon which has been up to 1.5 hours. Not nearly enough day time sleep but he just fights sleep so much during the day and I've really tried everything.

Just interested to know when this happened for your lo?

These last two weeks she has started taking two hour naps every two hours.

My son is 2 months and for the last week he has taken two 4hr naps during the day, and has slept through the night for the past week and a half.

My LO was on 5 naps a day until 5.5 months. It was really tying and I was so ready for her to transition!! By 6 months she was on 3 naps and by 6.5 she had dropped the last nap and is not on 2 very definite naps (10am and 3pm) each lasting between 1-2 hours. Bliss!! It is now sooo much easier to plan things.

How does your LO sleep at night? Mine is a good napper now but she still doesn't STTN (she did for a week but then decided that wasn't for her!!!)

Yes this sounds like my lo. He sleeps badly at night waking up every 2 hrs I'm sure it's because he's such a bad napper. He's just not a very good sleeper unfortunately. Suppose he will sttn when he's a teenager???

Yep, I'm so pleased I am able to take all positives and negatives with a pinch of salt as they are soooo liable to change at any given point....when she STTN for the whole week I loved it but every night I expected her not to so then when she started waking again I wasn't too fussed!! One day.......

I suspect we're a loooong way away from STTN! I'd probably be checking his breathing every 10 minutes if he ever had to go more than 2 hrs at a time without waking!

My 7 month old has a cat nap in the morning- (30 min) and I put him down around 11:30a and he sleeps until 2:30 (3 hrs in afternoon) bed at 7pm. Sleeps 12 hrs all the way until 7a.

Rylee was always a cat napper, 30 mins max was the best I'd get, but she started doing 1-2 hour naps after she started crawling.

Holy cow, two 4-hour naps and sleeping through?! How long does he sleep at night? You're a lucky lady!

My LO started taking longer (>1 hour) naps at around 6 months though it wasn't super consistent until 8 months or so. Now she takes a single 2-3 hour nap.

Willow took two 30-40 min naps a day until she dropped to one nap at about 11 months...only then did she start having up to two hours a time...which is now back down to 40 mind...doh!

From birth with Sophie, but she was jaundiced and sleepy. Probably from 4 months with Thomas.

My daughter started taking longer naps at 8 months this was the time I put a stop to her sleeping on me though and made her nap in her cot not sure if that had alot to do with it lol at 8 months she'd sleep 9-10 in the morning and 1-2:30 in the afternoon then sleep 6-6 on a night time she's dropped her morning nap now though and sleeps 11-1:30 then the 6-6 before I established a nap routine with her though she was a serious cat mapper!

My LO was a terrible catnapper (never more than 40 mins) until about 9 months then she started taking hour long naps. Now she takes one long 2 hour nap.

My LO used to take long naps on me as a newborn. Between 4-8 months old I used to try putting her down in the bouncer for naps, which didn't work as she hated sleeping if it wasn't on me, so she only cat napped. Around 8 months I just let her sleep on me and then she slept longer. She still only naps on me these days and will nap for between 1-2 hours.

Its always been hit and miss w my LO...as a newborn he took great 1-3 hour naps...now its near impossible to get him to nap longer than 30-45min most days, and only prob twice a day..but somedays he will do 1-2 hours in a stretch. Its strange, hes different with his naps every day and I have no idea why..
