I will possibly need to start IVF later in the year and was wondering when I will need to pay? I am trying to get organised - if I need to pay it all up front I need to get saving!

I'm in the US and had to pay up front prior to starting. The only thing I paid for later as it occurred was anesthesia for egg collection and embryo storage on the day of transfer if necessary.

I'm in the UK. When i phoned with my CD1 info we had to pay a booking fee of £500. When we went to our planning appointment, and received our treatment schedule and drugs, we had to pay the balance. Every clinic could be different though.

Kat are you in the uk and do you know if you qualify for nhs treatment? Pcts normally offer between 1-3 goes of ivf with varying waiting lists. They'll let you know at the next fs appt so you can take it from there. Good luck x

We had to pay upfront before starting any treatment. It's worth asking your GP to get in touch with your PCT to see if they will pay for your drugs even if you are going privately for your treatment. Some will, some won't. It depends on their financial state, I think.
