When do you start CD 1?

My doc office said start CD 1 the first day you see blood. I usually spot 2 days before full AF. But I always start CD 1 when I see red blood and have a full flow. Online it says start counting at full flow. This throws my days off now. When do you start counting?

I don't have any spotting before full flow, so I count the first day of bleeding as CD 1.

I have spotting before AF .I don’t count that though I just make a note of spotting on my app and like you count CD1 as when I have flow and red blood . I’ve always done it this way . My GP had never mentioned I’m calculating my AFs wrong
