when should I get this scan?

I have a history of mmc and I am living in terror right now. My doctor gave me papers for a scan to ease my mind and said I can get it whenever I want. Today I am 6 weeks. When is the best time? Should I wait a few more weeks?
He is also testingmy HCG levels twice a week for the next few weeks.

I would get it about 8 weeks? U should then see fetal pole and heart beat ect? Xx

try and wait until you are seven weeks, that way you have more of a chance of seeing the heartbeat. Obviously the longer you wait the more likely you will see the heart beating

I had one at 5 weeks and only saw a sac and then at 7w4 and saw heartbeat on a tiny little baby. I'd suggest between 7 and 8 weeks. 8 weeks to be sure but I'm sure if u had it earlier they don't discharge u till they see the baby anyway so would probably book you in again. That was the case with me anyway! X

I had my first scan at 7 weeks and we saw a HB and a little bean, but I had a MMC at 10 weeks last time and baby had stopped growing at 6+5 so the 7 week scan wasnt that reasuring, so I booked another at 9 weeks and we saw a wiggley baby with a lovely HB, so now I feel confident ive got a keeper, next scan at 11+5 and then 16 and 20 weeks. Im keeping a close eye on this LO xxxx

Hold out as long as you can is my advice.
I had mine at 9 weeks and it was actually reassuring at that stage. There's more to see and there is also much less chance of things going wrong afterwards at that stage.
I wouldn't do it before 8 weeks unless you experience bleeding. A scan at 7 weeks is reassuring if you see the heartbeat but you are still in the danger zone at that point. A good scan at 8 weeks gives you at least a 95% chance of an ongoing pregnancy.

i agree with kat -- I went at 9wks (early pregnancy unit referred by GP) as psychologically, was 'easier' as my mc was at 7-8wks and we saw an actual baby! So, 8-9wks is a good time UNLESS, there is bleeding, heavy spotting, cramps, etc., then asap....!

Thanks so much for the advice. I think Im going to make it for 8 Weeks. That will probably make me feel the most secure.
