When to do blood test?

I am currently 11dpo and since yesterday was getting eye squinter shadows on ic so today I did a digital on impulse and got a BFP! AF is due somewhere around Thursday so not sure if I should wait for that to pass before letting the gynae know and going for the hcg blood test confirmation?

If your in the UK Gynae ring them and see if they will now I would see your numbers x

Just called my gynae and receptionist says they not sending me for a blood test; I must take another test in a weeks time and if it is still positive then I must call to make an appointment to come see him. This isnt at all how they did it with my first pregnancy. Surely going to go see him (and pay a fortune for the appointment) isn't worth it so early in the pregnancy?
