Hi girls,

Im just trying to get some practice in before TTC next month. I got some OPK's but im not sure when i should start using them? I think im 6dpo.

Ive done one today and i might sound so silly but do you always get 2 faint lines? Is it only positive when the line is darker than the test line?

Im confused, sorry

Hi there. Congrats on ttc! the ovp strips are great. I would start using them 5 days after your period ends. You pee in a cup and stick the strip in there for about 10-15 seconds. Then put the strip on a flat surface and wait for up to 4 minutes (I think...but every ovp kit is different. You will have to read the directions). The line will be as dark as the test line or darker. That's when you know you are about to ovulate. But, I suggest having sex every other day even when you are not ovulating and every day during your most fertile days (4 days before you ovulate and the day you do ovulate). When you see a faint line on the strip, you should start having sex every day. Sperm can live inside of you for 48-72 hours, so that means that you can have sex 2-3 days before you ovulate and still get pregnant.

Good luck and don't ever apologize for asking questions! We are all here to help!!

Thanks hun, i should be better prepared! Ive been waiting forever and its here all of a sudden

Anyway, i will see you in TTC in 3 weeks time, thanks so much for the advice!

xx

Good luck! Most important thing...try not to get frustrated. It's very rare that you will conceive on the first try. Just try to be patient, and try not to force it. Have sex when you are in the mood and want it! I've learned that you can't force sex if you and your hubby aren't in the mood. It's just not good and it becomes a chore.

It will happen for you! Oh...don't forget to get checked out at your obgyn. Make sure that things look good and your body is ready to carry a healthy baby.

Talk to you soon!

hey there! good luck starting TTC!!! I was the same when I got my OPKs in the mail.. especially since they didn't come with any instructions. There is a website www.peeonastick.com that can answer all of your questions (and more). So far I have always gotten one faint line and the control line.. can't wait to see a positive!

I told my doctor we were gona be TTC, he asked if i smoked to which i replied no, he then said good luck, see you when youre pregnant! No checks or anything?... x

my Dr was the same.. asked if I was taking my folic acid then said "just remember practice makes perfect"

how many do you have? I am doing the SMEP plan which starts on CD10 but if you are just using them, I would say CD5!

That's really odd. At least in my experience. My doctor scheduled me in for a PAP test and ran some other tests while she was at it, just to make sure everything was good.

My doctor did what they call "pre-pregnancy planning" when we first decided to try. They did complete blood work and vaginal and abdominal ultrasounds to check my ovaries and uterus. Next time I see my doc I'm going to ask if I should get my tubes checked, because my sister went for 2 years and never knew one of her tubes had a blockage so now I'm paranoid! Anyways good luck! And don't be afraid to ask your doctor any questions or voice concerns you have!
