My baby is just over 4 months and drinks 5 or 5 and a half feeds in the day PLUS around two full feeds at night time!!!

I keep wondering if this is too much (by most guides it is) and if I should give her hungry formula? I don't know what this is or when it should be used.

Any advice?

I had a hungry baby at that age, tried hungry milk and didn't get on with at all. she only likes her comfort!

I'm off the theory that if they are eating that much they need it. I am convinced my LO grew for two months solid and then calmed at 5.5months!

I think they put potato starch in hungry baby milk to bulk it out and that can make them constipated.

Doesn't help with the night feeds though! We stuck with it and didn't wean until ten days short of 6 months (blw) and then started purees at just over 6 months.

Maybe others have had better experience?

Says on the tub it can be used from birth.

I just always remember being told in ante-natal class never to use it as it can cause IBS in later life. So I vowed never to use it but luckily I haven't needed to.

Lots of ladies on here use it, just thought I'd mention the IBS thing :flower:

i used HB milk as i thought it would stop harriet wanting feeds at night... but in all honesty it made it worse. think it was too heavy for her stomach tho so she didnt sleep too well!

like history_girls said, if baby is having that much its coz they need it.
how much do u give her at each feed?

ive used it at HV advice from 4 weeks old as he is a very hungry baby, on 99th centile for height & weight. He's had no problems on it, although it didnt make a great difference. His feeds are only just starting to settle down now (6-7 7oz bottles a day). He was taking 8-9! might be worth a go x

She's feeding 6 oz per feed but I think we're also trying to keep daytime feeds up in case it affect how hungry she gets at night. I think I'll stop this as I get the feeling she simply wants feeding every four hours now. I'll see what happens and thanks for the low down on the hungry milk thing. There is IBS in the family so no hungry milk for her!
:hugs:
