Where were you when your waters broke..

Mine leaked as opposed to the gush I had expected, and contractions didn't start. I had pitocin drip 24 hrs later to get me going x

My waters broke at 39+2 (just!) when I got up to pee at 1:30am on the Tuesday morning. I started having regular contractions around 10pm Tuesday night. Went into hospital at 12:30pm Wednesday due to the pain and Oliver was born at 1:12am on Thursday morning. So nearly 48 hours between waters breaking and him being born.

Mine was a back to back labour and both Oliver and myself developed infections due to prolonged rupture of membranes.

In the delivery suite, they were broken for me!!:haha:
My contractions started 26 hours earlier and I had been 6cm dilated for 5+ hours.
From contractions starting to baby being born I was 48 hours in labour:wacko:

Mine leaked too I remember it feeling like a trickle. Though I did have a very small amount of amniotic fluid which explains it.

I thought id wet myself :haha: several times!!! x

I was in the car 8 or 9 hours after the first niggles when my waters went. On the way to hospital with contractions 3 minutes apart. 3 hours later DD was born by EMCS when she was found to be breech.

Mine broke in hospital 7 hours after having a pessary inserted. They just burst and leaked for almost 10 minutes. I had extra fluid too, so it went all over the bed, the floor and a chair that I was told to sit on while my waters were mopped up :haha:

Midwife broke them for me both times. First baby after I got the fetanyl shot and was in active labor. Baby born 3 hours later.
Second baby, I was already pushing, so she broke them and he was born two pushes later (5 min).

Water broke at 37 +1 at 1am when I got up to use the toilet (right after I pulled my pants back up of course.) Contractions started a few hours later, and ds was born via emcs 20 hours later after I failed to dilate past 5cm even after the max dose of pitocin. When my water broke it was more like a gush and kept gushing pretty much until he was born.

With DD1 my waters went in the toilet at 39+4 after I'd just got up from having a wee, but there was only a little bit, so I wasn't quite sure what it was. I kept having little gushes for the next couple of hours, so hopped on the tube and bus and went to the hospital to get checked and had it confirmed it was my waters after which I was sent home and walked the 5km to try to get things started unsuccessfully. They kept leaking in little gushes for the next 24h with nothing else happening despite long walks etc, so we went to the birth centre again the next morning and asked for some extra time as I really didn't want to be induced, so the midwife explained to us about the chance of infection rising by about 0.5% (I think?) if left for another 24h and that things would most likely start within that time anyway, which we were okay with. He also recommended an acupuncturist that we could try, which we did in the afternoon and my contractions started a couple of hours later at around 3:30pm. From there it all proceeded fairly fast and when things got very intense around 1am (despite still being quite irregular) we drove to the birth centre again and when the midwife checked me I was fully dilated, but got told that she was coming bum first, so had to be quickly wheeled up to labour ward and given an epidural in case I needed an emcs, as they decided to try for a vaginal delivery. After a few hours of pushing DD1 was born around 6am.

With DD2 we decided to go for a brisk walk in the evening around 5:30pm at 39+5 to see if we could encourage getting things started as I'd always felt she would also be born at 39+6 and after about 15 minutes of walking I felt like I'd peed my pants, so we walked back and after I still kept getting small gushes figured it was my waters again. My contractions started about an hour later and weren't particularly painful or close together, so at around 11pm I went to sleep with a folded towel under my bum just in case:haha: I got a decent enough sleep and in the morning my contractions started again and this time started getting a bit more uncomfortable and regular, so we sent my mum and DD1 over to my sister's around midday, after which everything went quite fast and we got to the hospital around 1:15pm ready to push again and DD2 was born at 2pm:flower:.

I was in the shower. I'd bent to shave my legs and felt something pop! Very weird sensation as it was my first! I didn't have any contractions but I went in to hospital as they told me too as soon as my waters went. I was 2cm dilated and they sent me home again. It all then progressed very quickly. I was only home for 45 minutes and couldn't take the pain anymore so went back in and I was 9cm! Then when it came to pushing it slowed right down and ended up having assisted delivery with forceps on only gas and air! Lost a lot of blood too! But all worth it as the past 5 months have been the best of my life (and the hardest at the same time)

My labour started with my waters breaking. I dropped a piece of chocolate on the floor and quickly bent over to pick if up before the dog ate it and I felt a pop and gush. Contractions started straight away 5 minutes apart. He was born 6 hours later at home in a birth pool.

I was in hospital, hanging off my poor husband's neck, pushing! My waters broke only 30 mins before Jack arrived :)

Where were you? Sleeping in bed. I woke up, realised something was dripping out, jumped out of bed and it just gushed everywhere ... Everywhere! I was definitively not one of those people who barely noticed. More of a tidal wave. Then I started crying, as you do:)

How long before/after did contractions start? They started but were irregular for the first hour or more, still painful!

How long was your labour? (from waters breaking/contractions starting to baby actually born): 30 hours

Mine had to be broken whilst I was in labour and we hoped she'd move into the right position for birth or we would need a c section. She did.

With DD2 they went slowly and the midwife just wouldnt believe me :haha:

i was never "caught out" as such

With DD they just went pop when I arrived home, contractions started right away, very intense, went to hospital is gone from waters bursting to 5 cms very quickly. DD was born 4 hours later.

DS different kettle of fish, second time most definitely not easier! Had contractions on and off all day went into be checked and was 5cms. Went in birthing pool nothing happening got checked again no progress had to move around try get things going. Checked again few hours later midwife thought a bit of waters were still there went to burst them and it was all my waters! DS arrived quickly after that, 12 hours though compared to dd!

Unfortunately due to prolonged rupture of membranes I ended up with mild endometritis, that will be going in my birth plan next time!

I was standing in the kitchen eating watermelon when I had a major gush. I went and sat on toilet until it stopped but as soon as I stood up it started pouring again. I was only 35w1d. Waters broke around 3:45 Thurs afternoon and i had her 6:20 Friday morning.

On the toilet, thought I was having a reallllyyy long wee but it was a different sensation. I've never been so scared in my life, I was absolutely trembling :haha:

With dd1 they broke them before I was hooked up to the pitocin (induced and predators didn't start anything.)she was born 6hrs later.

Dd2 waters broke as I was pushing. I could feel them bulging and it was soooo weird!! She was born about 5 minutes later

My waters had to be broken both times.. I was in labour 13 and half hours from them being broke with ds1 and was given the drip
With ds2 was in labour 6 hours after they were broken . No drip needed x
