Where's all the October mummies?

Hi everyone!

Jessica was due on the 9th but didn't decide to make her appearance until the 24th! I was induced, the process started on the evening of the 20th, and she was born the next day at 11:17pm weighing 7lbs4oz. She's breastfed, we had a few struggles during the first few days but its getting easier by the day and her weight gain is brilliant, she now weighs 7lbs13oz as of today which I'm so happy about. She likes her sleep a little too much though and we have to wake her for feeds every 2-3 hours but now she's gaining nicely and is over her birth weight (she lost 2oz initially) I'm starting to leave her through the night unless she wakes up herself which she has started doing every once in a while. She went 6 hours last night it was great! She has her fussy moments but overall she's amazing, me and oh love her so much.

Just tried to upload a picture from my phone but it didn't work.

Photo of Ethan :cloud9: His hair parting is so cute bless him. It looks like a little comb over!

Awww such cute pics up there ^

Emelia Mae was born on the 9th October one week late after a long 26 hour active back to back labour resulting in assisted delivery by ventouse. VERY painful for me for 21 hours of it as I have a previous spinal injury and was only on gas & air till then. Eventually got to 8cm and caved for an Epi. Got stuck at 8cm for 4 hours and the drug they were giving me to make the contractions faster kept making Emmys HB dip so in the end we chose to suction cup her cute lil head.

Fortunately she had a full head of hair to soften it ;) and was born at 6:57pm weighing 7lb 12oz and measuring 51cm long (1cm longer than the average recommendation for newborn clothes... Which was awkward lol)

Had a very scary 999 call for her before she turned 2 days old though! Got home, evening went well, visitors went home. Went up to bed all were sleeping then here a cough sound followed by shrill screams from her. She locked her neck right back and locked her mouth closed and began turning redder and redder. Called ambulance whilst trying desperately to get her into the position for choking. Thankfully I'd read some basic first aid and by the time the ambulance turned up she had started coughing again. Lots of phlegm still in her throat from birth. Was the worst experience ever and I barely slept for watching her in her first week after.

Other than that night she's a very content lil girl and was breast fed for her first 4 weeks and as of yesterday got moved over onto formula and has taken to it really well. Still trying to get the house tidied up again after 4 weeks of chaotic cluster feeding lol hence moving her over to formula. So much easier for us now Daddy can help.

Here she is our pride & joy Miss Emelia Mae :)

I was supposed to be an October mummy. My little one had other plans! He came four weeks early on September 18! We both had a relatively easy time with birth and delivery in the water. He got jaundiced the next week so we spent three days with him in the hospital but after that he was much more awake and alert. He's seven weeks old now and doing so good. We had trouble with breast feeding so I was pumping a lot and feeding him that way. After that we got to feeding with the shield. Now however for the past week he's been feeding directly like a champ! He's getting so chunky now and he's very awake during the day. Today he rolled from his side to his belly and tried desparately to go back on his back but just ended up scooting around and screeching in frustration haha. He's a very good baby. Only fusses if he's hungry or gassy. Not even with a wet diaper.
Was hoping for an October baby but September is fine too. :) this was a nice post. :)

a bnb friend had that happen to her LO, with the choking!!! how scary!!! so glad everything is ok. love that hat! :)

October mummy here too.
Sophie was due 7th but arrived on the 10th weighing 8lb6oz. I got to hospital just after 11am on the 10th and she was born at 12:34. I didn't even get gas and air. As much as I planned to labour at home for as long as possible I was shocked that I was fully dilated when I was checked on arrival. I was actually telling the midwife that I needed to go loo (number 2) before having the baby. She said that's baby coming not you needed a poo!
She was weighed a week ago and was 9lb9oz
Soley Breastfeeding

Hi everyone! My lo was born Oct 16th at 8:29pm 8lbs2oz. I was due Oct 15th and was induced on the 16th. 13 hrs of labor and 8 mins of pushing and there he was. Most amazing thing ever. Hes a great baby :) we tries bfing but he didn't take to it so were doing formula :/ he wakes up abput every 3 to 4 hours to eat. I am completely in love with him, daddy loves him but is still a little bit akward with him but he'll get the hang of it :) im dreading going back to work in a few weeks though :p

in a few weeks!?!? i thought going back in april was bad - poor u! btw our LOs were born the same day :)

the US is terrible with maternity leave. i'm going back to work tomorrow

I'm here too!! Had Sophie on 23rd October (10 days late) by ventouse weighing 8lb11oz. She was a little bit jaundiced for a few days following but it cleared up and now she's doing well. We're exclusively breastfeeding for now but having problems with her latch (and my painful nipples!!). Though she's getting plenty of milk because at 10 days she weighed 9lb1oz!!
She is an absolute dream though. Even my mother, the health visitors and the midwife commented on how good she is for a newborn. No doubt it won't last. She doesn't cry unless she wants something or we're trying to put her down for the night (when I suppose she just wants a cuddle). She feeds around every 2-3 hours for 10-20 minutes so it could be a lot worse and once she is down for the night, I'm the one having to wake her up for feeds. Last night I put her down at 11 (we had a busy day yesterday) and both fell asleep until 5am. When I woke I paniced that she was overdue for milk (I had to wake her lots for feeds when she was jaundiced) and that my milk would suffer lol. I do seem to produce a ridiculous amount though!!
She is our perfect little girl to spoil every single day. Seems as though we put 2 and 2 together and were rewarded with 10 :happydance:

Hi all october mummies! Jazmine Love Kelly was born on the 21st of october by induction (perssery) She was due on the 9th but I suppose she was too cosy to come out!

I went in hossie on the 20th at 2.30pm and got a perssery (sp) about an hour and a half later I started getting mild cramps which progressed over the day and night. I was originally supposed to go to the midwifery unit but it was shut due to a high demand in the labour ward so hubby got sent home at 10pm I was so gutted...but anyway.

I actually felt kinda bad because I was the last woman to enter the ward but the first to go in labour, I don't think the other ladies where too chuffed., some off them where there a while, especially during the night, I felt I was keeping them awake......stupid I know

The cramps got stronger over the night I had some paracetamol and a strong painkiller, by 4.30 (6/7cm) I was in mega pain they gave me some gas and air and decided to call OH around 5.30am as I told her I was gonna push. Then they told me the midwifery unit was open so they whisked me down there, but forgot to tell hubby where I went. Hubby got there just 6 minutes before she was born, the poor things was running around hossie trying to find me while im busy clenching my butt cheeks trying to keep her in! So the pushing part was very quick.

The funny part of the story is when the midwife whisked me to the midwifery unit on a wheel chair, the midwife gave me the end piece of the gas and air but i didn't realise it was attached so when the contarction came im sucking on this unattached thing like theres no tommorrow, it wasn't until a friend told me a similar story I thought oopps I actually did that too..what a nut! then the midwife tried to pull me of the wheel chair mid contraction and proceeded to tell me that I cant sit on the seat all day...all I wanted was a few more seconds until it tided over....well I got my own back...my waters burst all over her woooosh:haha::blush:

Jazmine was born at 6.20am weighing 7lb 11 and a half oz settling in fine with the family.

They tried to make me walk the 100 metres to labour ward during a contraction and we're talking power walking!! Needless to say I stood completely still in the middle of the corridor until it passed lol.

I had Sonny on Oct.25 by induction. It only took four hours from the time of water being broken and starting pitocin, but it was the most painful four hours ever!!!!!!! BF is going well and he is two weeks today. I've had pretty severe baby blues. Bad enough I didnt eat for four days and cried alot. I upped the dose of my antidepressants and I'm starting to feel better but it was scary for awhile. Sonny is doing well and has started spacing feedings out to every four hours instead of two.

Oh my god! they don't half make you work!! Its hard enough as it is. She made me get off the chair and walk to the bed through a contraction, yeah it wasn't far from the wheelchair (it is when your in labour though!) but she could of let me wait until it passed pffft, I should of stood my ground!

I never thought i would get grumpy with the midwifes during labour....I didn't with my first but I felt myself biting my lip and said what I thought of her in my head instead for making me do that haha!

Good thread idea! :D I was supposed to be an Oct. mommy and was due on the 20th but ending up an August mommy! Leah was born at 3:11 AM on August 31 at 33 weeks gestation. My water had broken for unknown reasons 4 days prior and I spent those 4 days living in the labor and delivery ward trying to keep her in untill 34 weeks. Well she wanted out lol and didn't even give mommy a chance to get an epidural!

She was 4lbs. 11oz. and now at 9 weeks old is 9 lbs. 11oz.! She's doing perfect with no problems at all exept a minor case of silent reflux that we have under control now :)

I'll attach pics later since I have to put the recent ones on my computer still and she's on my lap at the moment lol

I'm still around :) ... Jordyn was due on oct 24 and I had her the 6th was induced for medical reasons (gallbladder) affecting my liver! ... Was induced 2 times with cervidil and then my water broke the third day took me till early hrs of the next morning to give birth 158am Saturday morning :) ... Healthy 6lb10z baby girl .. Little jaundice that cleared she's perfect now if only we could sleep a little more ! She's up all night lol

Hello October mummies, its so lovely to see all the familiar names again and see how everyone's doing now :)

My Molly was born on October 13th, a week overdue. She was back-to-back on my left side and couldn't get out. After 48 hours of very painful contractions, no sleep and vomitting with the pain, I was diagnosed with a water infection and we were finally kept in the hospital as I had still only dilated to 3 to 4cm.

I was given an eipdural and drips for fluids and induction (not sure what that one was) on the Friday evening, it was amazing to get a few hours sleep. Then the baby started getting distressed in the early hours of Saturday morning (I wasn't told this at the time) so everything happened very quickly in the end, we ended up having a ventouse delivery and episiotomy but I pushed her out in 45mins.... apparently I was a good pusher, although I couldn't feel a thing so didn't know if I was pushing into the right places!!! My predicted "big" baby was born at 6.44am, weighing a very dainty 6lb 12oz :cloud9:

Nearly four weeks on and she's just beautiful. We're having a few problems with breastfeeding - painful nipples and bad latching, but despite that Molly's thriving. She's practically growing before our very eyes and sleeps brilliantly - midnight to 7.30am lastnight.... That did follow a huge five hour feed-a-thon though.

I'll try and upload a pic later x

as for making us do stuff during contractions, the doc tried to put a catheter in me during a contraction whilst someone else got me to sign a consent form for my section... my signature was pretty epic-took up half the page and has very few real letters in it lol

Im here :flower:

My baby was due on October 11th but i ended up 12 days overdue and finally had my pink bundle on October 23rd. I was having contractions for 22 hours and 53 minutes but only 1 hour 53 minutes of that is taken into account because the 20 hours didn't get me into established labour due to baby being in a bad position :(

She generally feeds well and had just upped herself to 4oz feeds every 4-6 hours but for the last 2 feeds has only taken 2oz then gone to sleep for 4 hours - should I be concerned or just keep an eye on her? She has poo'd and doesn't seem unsettled or anything...

Here is my little Faith :)
