Which part are you most scared of?

i am dreading having a canula put in. the MW's burst veins in both my hands with my last son and had to call an anaesthetist to get it in.... it makes me sick just thinking of it.... i don't care about the labour, tearing, repeat episiotomy, epidural, spinal block... piece of piss in comparison to the canula and get constipation afterwards!! x

Oh God...youve just reminded me of the poop afterwards... Nightmare, last time I thought my insides were going to fall out if I went to the loo

I used to be worried about tearing or being cut. A couple of days ago I was thinking about the times that I have gotten hurt and needed stitches and I can't remember what it felt like to actually tear the skin so I stopped worrying about it. Don't get me wrong I still don't want to, I'm just not as worried.

For the pain, this being my first time I don't really know what to expect BUT I have suffered from hemorrhagic ovarian cysts and that feels like acid tearing you up from the inside out. So if it is anything like that or better I am not too worried.

The thing I am worried about is having my baby and him not living. Either stillborn or dying shortly after birth that is what frightens me. I can do the whole thing as long as I get my sweet LO out of it.

Sorry to be morbid.

I noticed that a lot of you lovely ladies are worried about tearing and having an episiotomy. There is a way of significantly reducing the chance of this happening. It's called perineal massage. I'm planning to give it a go. Here's a link about it xx:

the third stage of contractions[labour] when there is no break in between and here nobody is given any form of pain relief, not even paracetamol. the pain at this stage can never be described with words.

I am not scared of much yet, mostly scared of not knowing what to do x

Hi

I was in labour for nearly 13 hours and whilst I did end up having meptid and an epidural, I did get to 5cm with gas and air so I did get to experience the contractions and since I was induced, I missed out the first stage of contractions and just went in full pelt...

anyway, for me the contractions were the lesser of the two evils. The crowning was by far THE most painful experience of my life, HOWEVER, even that pain went the minute my son was born :cloud9:

I said, when asked by the MW who was stitching me up, that I would go through the pain again in a heartbeat!!

I hope that didn't scare anyone as that wasn't my intention..enter into labour with an open mind, you may surprise yourself :)

Nicola xx
