Ladies, do your babies have a white tounge ALL the time? Mine does and one M/W suggested it could be thrush. I then saw a health visitor who said it wasn't thrush, as the roof of her mouth and cheeks would have white spots too. I went to the GP to see what she would say. She said it's not thrush. Then, another M/W said it looks like thrush. I saw another docutor who said it could be but wasn't sure! I got medicine anyway, which hasn't removed the white. Then TODAY another health visiotr asked if it goes away in between feeds and I said no bu told her the GP said it wasn't thrush.

I'm REALLY confused and don't know what to think. Is a constant thick white tounge normal or not?!

Off the top of my head I am thinking thrush. I dont know how common it is. Hope the medicine works :flower:

My little girl has a White tongue too but nowhere else in her mouth. My mw and hv both said it wasn't thrush as it would be on the roof of her mouth and cheeks. They've said it's from her milk and once she's taking solids it will gradually fade away!

Xx

My los had a white tongue since hes been born, we too thought thrush and took him to the docs, he said that some babies do have a white tongue as they are constantly feeding, its the milk residue sticking to their tongue xx

all my kids have had white tongues. dd1 was prescribed meds just in case it was and it never made the white go away. i think its just from drinking milk all the time.

Yep my son has a White tongue all the time and I also has queries whether it was thrush but everyone has said no to me even though it doesn't go between feeds

my lo had this until about 2 months old. it was a mixture of milk and spew left on her tongue (mmm yummy)

if its not on the roof of the mouth or the cheeks its the milk residue if hes finding a lot, he would have it all the time. x if he cluster feeds x

My dd had that too when she was a baby, for her it was milk. I was advised by midwife to leave it be. I really didn't like it but unsure what to do.
When my mum came back 3months after dd was born she showed me how to clean it, she used a towel/cloth dip in warm water and rubbed it off. Took a few weeks before it completely went.

Thanks so much ladies; I think deep down I feel that it's just milk. She is feeding alot and doesn't seem to have trouble sucking. It's reassuring to know she isn't the only one! :)

My little one had thrush when he was very young, it was a thick white sort of grime on his tongue, took a while to clear up even on medicine.Sounds similar hun and its very common. xx

The MW in hospital told me it was milk too, it doesn't go completely between feeds, but does seem to lift off the front of his tongue in between. There is always some left at the back though.

My LO had it just on his tongue, not on his cheeks etc and it WAS thrush. We got the medicine and it started clearing on day 2 and was gone after 2 weeks. Are you BF? It's very common in BF babies x

It could be milk residue hun. U can wipe it with a clean wet cloth. I used to clean Omar's mouth once a day when he was tiny (advised by his Dr. to avoid thrush). xx
