who can go MOST overdue?!

hi girls.

officially 9 days over due now and at least once a day have completely lost my marbles.

have had a sweep and have a very low baby, plus 1cm dilated. just an increase in cm which i am hoping is my plug but best part of bugger all aside from that.

my days swing from fine and happy to MONSTER WOMAN in a flash. im so frustrated.

Beatnick!! Welcome over to the thread of misery! Just kidding, but we are all just trying to get through this.
How far is too far?? I am travelling up to an hour away at a time, once contractions start or waters go it seems to take quite a long time to get things going. I am making my dh drive me to beaches down on the southcoast and eating ice cream at each seaside destination!! Or I quite like going to petshops, I am a vet nurse by preofession and I am really missing the animals and I get to cuddle the bunnies! (Even though I have 5 cats and a dog, they are all too busy during the day to cuddle me!)

yes we have been south coast beaching too! ive eaten more ice cream than you can imagine!

Happy Birthday Emma!

I'm still here too ladies...sigh. I lost a little more of my plug in the middle of the night but no other signs that baby wants to make an appearance yet. I have my biophysical ultrasound in a few hours to make sure my placenta is still working fine (if I don't get an 8/8 score they'll induce me today eek!). I'll keep you all updated later on. Good luck to us all that someone has their baby soon.

GOod morning ladies :) Well it's officially my due date! Can't believe it's here...no sign of babes making her debut anytime soon though.

Happy Birthday Emma!!! Hope you get your birthday wish ;)

I have a doctor's appointment today at 3pm...I wonder if he's going to want to do a sweep. I don't think I want one....based on all the posts on this thread, they don't seem to work  any advice??

I think it's just your luck whether they work tbh! Def worth giving it a go I think, anything has gotta be worth a try!!! Where I live they don't offer sweeps until 7 days past edd but you can always ask.

Happy due date Melissa. According to my midwife a sweep in and of itself won't induce labour but it does help your body along if things are ready. She also said more than one is usually required so if your cervix is ready and you can get a first one done now it might not be such a bad idea. I had my first one yesterday and it didn't hurt, was just kind of uncomfortable. Different but similar feeling to getting your pap done (minus the scraping lol).

Hi All!

Sorry to see you're all still here! Was meant to be having first sweep today, but has been put off till tomorrow as visiting midwife is off sick. Who knows whether it'll do anything, but it'll be good to feel like I'm/we're proactively doing something!

ahh the scraping, that makes me cringe haha
I'm not going to ask for one...I think I'll wait till a week overdue to get one if I do....
My mom was overdue with all 5 of her kids, but no more than a week overdue so I'm hopeful it won't be more than a week...

Quite, I'm pretty much a week over now so am ready for a hand! I just want to give myself as much of a chance as poss as I really really really don't want to be induced as my mother was with me.

Anybody heard from Emma2 today? Wonder if she is off celebrating her birthday or off having a bubba??

Whatever she's doing, I hope Emma's having a good time lol. I'm back from my biophysical ultrasound and the tech wouldn't tell me anything. Not even if baby was big!!! What's the harm in answering that question geez! Anyhow, unless I hear from my midwife in the next hour or so telling me to get to the hospital to be induced today, it means my placenta is still working fine. Woohoo!

Well that is abit mean of them! Being a medical examination surely they are obliged to tell you or at least inform you who will and can tell you and more importantly when!
Fingers crossed you dont hear from them hun!
I am atually looking forward to my induction, I feel so down today and i am fed up. Wont go into it otherwise I will pull all you lovely ladies down!

Awwww big :hugs: catlady. I hope you feel better soon. As far as the tech not telling me anything, they have a sign in the ultrasound room that says they legally cannot tell us anything, that we must get the results from our doctor. The midwife told me yesterday that if I didn't hear from her within a couple hours it meant everything was ok, and I haven't heard so it must be lol. I'll ask her tomorrow when I get my next sweep about baby's size and stuff. Hopefully she knows cuz now I'm really curious. I did get to see baby's face though. She was opening and closing her mouth lots hehehe...already a chatterbox like her mommy.

awwww I loved seeing my baby on the ultrasounds :cloud9:
That's weird they wouldn't even tell you the size. At my last ultrasound they told me the estimated weight based on their measurements... it was 2lbs 11oz at 29 weeks....No idea what it would be today though!!! Judging by my belly: BIG!!! haha

I'm not quite overdue yet (in 3 more days I will be due), but I'm now starting to feel that he will be late.

I was wondering if you were getting annoyed or upset that you are overdue and yet there are all these girls who were due much further along after you having their babies early? I'm starting to feel that way and I haven't yet hit my due date, so I was curious as to how you all felt.

Sometimes I find it a little frustrating, but mostly I'm just trying to focus on the fact that I've got a healthy baby girl who's just being stubborn. I remind myself that it could be worse...she could've come too early and had medical problems. Now that I have my induction date there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and even though I'd rather go into labour naturally, at least I know the end is in sight.

haha I don't really get annoyed when people have their babies before me that are due after me...I just want a healthy baby. It is a *little* irritating when women are like 36 weeks along and searching for labour symptoms or trying natural induction methods...but I try not to let it bother me.

Its just one of those things I think, Im now 5 days late and my first was 5 WEEKS early so I feel like I have been pregnant forver this time. Wierd thing is i went through a phase at abotu 36 weeks where I really wanted him out cos I was tired and fed up and now I am quite relaxed about it all, he will come when he is ready and the more I leave it to mother nature the better it is for him and the easier birth it should be for me. Cant wait to meet him and even more cant wait for that first cuddle with boy my little boy but I guess now I have waited this long whats a few more days....

No i'm still here! was just having a nice day for my b'day. Thank you for all the b'day wishes! I went and ate lots of naughty things that i shouldn't do but hey, times up bubba! I have been in to the maternity ward visiting my sister this afternoon though (she was admitted for high bp at 38 weeks) and learned that yet another girl i know who was due 2 weeks after me has already had her baby. Why does no-one understand it's my turn! :haha: I hadn't been on a hospital tour so both frustrating and scary seeing the ward and all the lovely new babies......
Tried clary sage oil this afternoon as a natural induction method (thought it was worth a try) and interestingly it did kick start my contractions! Not much and they have gone but hey, its a start. Will be putting some under my pillow this evening (as recommended) and see what it does, at worst it is a relaxant so might help me get a decent night sleep.
Hope you are all well today - labour dust coming your way. xx
