TBH xmas isnt going to be the same anymore for me. Im still youngish so i should still be having xmas at mummys house, Lovely xmas dinner ect.

But last xmas is when my mums cancer got the better off her! Xmas day i had to try and cook xmas dinner with mum very very ill in the living room. She passed away ont he 30th.

So this year im making it extra spesh for my kiddies and my neice. And tbh my cooker is too small lol wouldnt fit an turkey in there!

:hugs: I went through a very similar thing a few years ago when my Mum died. I found the build up to the 1st Christmas very tough but the day itself ended up being easier than the ones before. We have kept many of Mum's traditions but have changed somethings too. You need to do whatever will make it easy on you. I do wish we had gone out on that 1st Christmas after my Mum died.

were keeping things how mum did them lol. Like the boxes of sweets she had to buy before xmas, sitting in a circle and opening one pressie at a time each, ect ect. There isnt much of family left so its only going to be a small xmas there which i hate!! i like a big xmas like we used to :(

I really feel for you as it sounds so like here. We used to have huge Christmas Days but now there is DH, Emma and my Dad. In-laws join us now too. I continue to have a buffet on Xmas Eve, buy all my treats in M&S, have Boxing Day presents that you have to write a clue (Mum started that when I was really little and we had no money so it was something everyone really thought about making exciting), constantly have bowls of nuts/ crisps around the living room during Christmas, etc. When Emma is big enough I will follow all her Santa traditions too. It feels like a good way for Emma to get to know my Mum even though they won't meet.

i think is too expensive to dine out at this time of the year. so we are staying at home.

We're eating out this year for the first time, I can't wait! Gives me an excuse to dress up and not laze around in my pyjamas.
The place we're going to is £30 for three courses and £15 for kids. We had to book a highchair for Lucas though as apparently they don't have many.

Do you recommend it and how much is it per person and do places cater for kids? Whats the atmosphere like? Is it just like going out for a roast any other time

Hi hun, i work in an italian restaurant. i would say its averagely priced at about £6-7 per pizza/pasta. Our christmas lunch is on at £47.50 for adults and £21.50 for children under 12, for 3 courses. here is a link to our menu to give u an idea of what u will get for your money

as for atmosphere i never worked last year but im assuming that if you choose somewhere busy its bound to be good!

we have only just really recieved our christmas menus but i know we have quite a few bookings already, so my advice would be to book asap to ensure a table at a time you want. hope you have a great day whatever you decide :flower:

Totally OT but I used to LOVE Scalinis in Jesmond when I lived in Newcastle!!!

YEY go scalinis!!! iv only been to the jesmond one a few times coz i live like 2 mins away from the gosforth one. i like the gosforth one better but then im bias :winkwink:
