We're WTT for #2 in January, but we are already very certain of our names:
Evelyn Ivy for a girl. I have been in love with this since just after I had #1 in 2006, and it sounds great with our last name (which also has a Y, an E, and an "eye" sound in it).
Serge Constantine for a boy. Here's the thing: I was a classics major in undergrad and have been in love with the name "Constantine" forever. Emperor Constantine I was certainly a flawed individual, but his influence on history is undeniable and his influence on Christianity (making Christianity legal, ending the off-and-on state persecution of Christians, influencing the creation of the Nicene Creed) was particularly formative. Plus I love the meaning ("steady, constant"). It's my husband who loves "Serge," and it never would have been on my list, but my husband spent two years of his life in France and he loves French names, so I've compromised and given it to him. It turns out that "Serge" comes from the old Latin family nomen "Sergius," so it actually works well thematically with "Constantine."
We intend to call them by their middle names in both cases, so it will be Constantine or Ivy.
Most people seem to like Evelyn Ivy, but we've gotten a lot of negative reactions when we've mentioned Serge Constantine, so we've decided to stop telling friends and family about our names. Once it's actually attached to a baby and they can't do anything about it, they'll quit bitching. I think people are so xenophobic. While "Serge" and "Constantine" are uncommon in America, "Serge" (along with its variants) is perfectly normal in countries like France, Belgium, Portugal, Brazil, Catalonia, Romania, Italy, and Spain, while "Constantine" (and its variants) has always been common among followers of Eastern Orthodoxy all over the world.
Here's a comment from a woman on a blog who is married to a "Constantine":
My husbands name is Constantine; it is a long-used family name and he was the lucky one to inherit it out of his generation. I think it is a gorgeous, handsome, downright sexy name and I cant see him going by anything else. I cant put into words how much I love it. It gave him some problems as a child, especially since his brothers have fairly normal names, but hes grown to be pretty proud of his unique moniker.
And that's exactly why I'm doing it.
