Who will be with you when you deliver? And will you tape it?

I am only allowed two support people in the delivery room, since I am having a c-section, I can only have one, which will be my husband, I think it should be a special bond between you and a couple other people, not a whole barrage of people. We are taking photos, but not video-taping, especially since it's going to be a c-section now.

I will only have my dh there. I would never want anyone else there... Including my mom or mil. I felt like labor and childbirth were a bonding thing for me and dh and then when Megan was born it was just our family unit which is how I wanted it. We called family after she was born, but didn't have anyone come to see us til the following day so we could have our time.

I didn't tape megans and won't tape any others we have either.

I'm even thinking of kicking my bf out- last time he ended up crying and I had to comfort him, lol.

OMG thanks for making me laugh, I got a visual of poor you in labor having to comfort a crying grown man, i would have kicked my husband out too if that happened:dohh:

I had my mum and sister with me with my first two and my mum was great help. With my DD they was like 5 hours drive away :(
Same this time so my OH will be comin in, I worry about him lol he dont like blood or pain or anything like that lmao so I see him fainting foe being sick but who knows he may surprise me lol

I'm having a c-section so there will be no cameras in there!!

I'm not sure if my DH will be back from Afghanistan in time  but if he is then it will just be the 2 of us, if he isn't then I'll go in on my own for the procedure and get my mum to wait outside, I dont want her in there when it's happening. I love my mum to bits but she can be a tad controlling given the chance and she'll just annoy me when I should be relaxing with out new baby. Other thing is of course that she might be minding DD.......

Here in the UK they won't allow you to have any footage of the birth.. it's to cover their backs when they mess up.. which sadly I have experienced a couple of times :(

That's horrible...I'm sad to hear that. I'm surprised they haven't made that a rule here either, considering all the lawsuits we have here.

I'm hoping to have a home birth so haven't decided yet who will be there but definatley won't be filming it. OH kindly informed me that I poo when I push  so really don't want that on tape.

Me and dh only. I don't plan to tell anyone else until baby is actually here. They can then come to visit once we are back home. I hope this doesn't sound too selfish but it's our first and we want to struggle through by ourselves without help from family.

It will be my mom, DH, and my MIL. Although DH's grandmother and great grandmother are flying up from Puerto Rico for the birth, I'm not sure they will want to be in the room. But if they want to I have no problem! And we will be taping it, for all my older sisters who live in a different state then us. :)

My mum, dad and brother are coming over from the UK to Australia for 4 weeks, so it'll be my husband and my mum :) then the in-laws come for 3 weeks after my parents go home .... busy few weeks.

xx

I have taped all 3 deliveries and really love to watch after the fact bc in the moment you dont pay attention to the details. I am not sure who will be at our house yet for labor and delivery my hubby midwife and her 2 apprentices only time will tell good luck

When I had my son it was just me, OH and the midwife. No one els :) (well not untill I got to the surgery room hehehe)
I will have it that way too.

1st baby I had my mum and OH
2nd baby I had just OH
3rd baby I had just my mum
4th baby I had OH and my lil sister as birth photographer (midwife didn't make it on time!)
5th baby I'm not having a birth partner, but will probably have my lil sister here again to capture the birth on film (or memory card lol) and I doubt the midwife will make it again!

Were not allowed to deliver multiples at home in the uk, where you at! Weird how differents things can be accross the pond.

It will be just my husband. I wish my 20 year old daughter could be there like she was with Skyla. But she will be in France working in the ski resorts.

I wouldn't have the actual birth filmed but will ask my husband to film as soon as baby is born like I did with Skyla :cloud9:

I've heard of that happening. This is my first...so I have no experience in that arena. My friend who is a midwife told me it happens more with induced labors and epidurals. I don't know if that's true.

I really don't wanna poo during labor...but I guess I can't control that...

I don't think that sounds selfish at all. I love family, but some family members can be inadvertantly pushy or smothering. My sister wouldn't tell anyone when she was going to the hospital..and I was sworn to secrecy. I don't blame her...they would've been there waiting to cram in as soon as possible...giving her no privacy.
