I Meant too cold than too warm.. sorry dont know how to change title ..

I read this on here a couple of weeks ago and because my baby is gonna be a November baby i figured the heating would be on loads and i would layer him with warm clothes to make sure he was warm as i thought it would be best for him to be too warm than too cold.. so this kinda confused me when i seen this.. is there a reason or is it even true?

I really don't know the answer but I have been told not to get them too warm during sleep as it increases the risk of SIDS

Hmm... do you mean that its better to be too cold than too warm? I have never heard it said the other way around.

Overheating can cause problems in the body fairly quickly, whereas if you're a little on the chilly side, you can usually fix that by putting on warmer clothes or wrapping up in a blanket.

We keep our house on the chilly side all year round. Its much easier to warm us - and more importantly - the baby up than it is to cool off.

Yes it is true. Babies being too warm when asleep is associated with higher rates of SIDS (cot death). The recommend temp for a baby's room is 16-20oC (brrr, I prefer it toastier!).

I think it means if u don't have heating on, u can put more blankets on, but if the house is too hot, u cNt leave bby with no clothes, so to be able to put more blankets on if needed is safer :/

Thanks everyone im always cold so heating on most nights lol might need to adjust that!

i have heard the same thing from doctors - if they are cold they will cry and tell you and if they are WAY too dangerously warm....they may not be able to tell you :(....sorry that sounds awful but im going to go with keeping his clothing on the lighter side and see if he wakes up feeling cold or not

And to clarify... when people say "too cold", they just mean that you feel cool enough to want to put on a pair of socks or something. Not so cold that you're at risk for frost bite or hypothermia or anything! :haha:

Our house is almost always cool enough to comfortably snuggle under a blanket without getting hot, but also warm enough that you only really feel like you need to put the blanket on if you're sitting on your butt with no laptop in your lap! :haha: Our bedroom is always cold enough that you have to snuggle under a blanket or your toes and nose and fingers go numb. :haha: I hate getting into bed (its always cold) and I hate getting out of bed (I'm always so warm and don't want to get out)...

Thanks :D i guess it makes sence to have him on the cooler side than too warm. My OH is going to love it as he is always too warm and thinks the house is too warm lol were opposites!
