this may seem and odd and stupid (and even somewhat frequent question)

i'm having back pain and period like cramps, stronger than they have been over the last week or so

if this is early labour (don't worry i'm not holding my breath) would having a bath slow it down or even stop it....

i don't want it to stop if it is, i want my baby.

bet when i'm in full blown labour i will retract that last statement

could it be BH? the warm bath might help the pain tho. all i know is they say not to bath once ur waters have gone as they havnt a warm bath sounds like a good idea take the pressure off. hope u feel better soon x

like my MW says what re they gonna do, send the bath police around????

i dunno if it is BH as a lot of it is in my back..... think i will try a bath as it usually helps me deal with back pain, was just worried it could stop it if it was labour....

now Pepper it is mummys birthday today and she would seriously like for you to come and join her, would be the best present ever

I've been wondering this - the main reason being that if you're having a water birth, they won't let you get in before you're 4cm dilated in case it slows things down too much, which makes me think that a bath could do the same thing? I've become addicted to baths since I've been in 3rd tri - maybe THAT's why I'm 9 days overdue lol!!

I doubt it!!

In our antenatal she said anything that relaxes you will let the labour hormones balance themselves and get labour going!!

She said often people get in the car to hospital and as it is a change and you get anxious adrenaline takes over and slows the contractions as the balance is all out of kilter...

Enjoy your bath and relax into your body doing what its made to do!! Eeeeekkkk!!! SO exciting!!

X x

well i have had my bath.

i know what you mean about the addiction, i used to bath twice a yr or so, when i had a bad cold, and shower every day.

now i bath up to 2-3 times a day and shower every fortnight as standing in the shower is sore on my back and it also drains my energy!

however i am still getting the cramps...... this i feel is good news.....

come on pepper get a wriggle on baby

when in labour if a bath slows things down it means ur body isnt ready and it will help give u a rest.
i had a bath when early labour started as i wanted things to slow down so i could sleep more....well i was in the bath for afew mins and my contractions sped up and got alot stronger! so id say relax, go for a bath and just wait and see

EDIT....i didnt see ur above post, good luck :)

thanks Moomin, glad to see your little one is doing so well!

had clary sage in my bath, the radox stuff plus the oil, and was burning oil as well, so heres hoping, i now feel all chilled out, wonder if i could grab a nap! napping is not something i can do usually no matter how tired i am

I've just seen this thread. I'm having the same symptoms and they started after i'd had a bath. Most of the aching is in my back and i'm getting painless contractions every 7mins for 45seconds. Have you timed yours yet??

i had a radox bath 3 hours before i went into labour with corey! i was so relaxed, i think thats why i went into labour because i was relaxed. i had a very fast 4 hour labour with him lol
thanks hes doing so well:)

not timed them yet as its more like cramping period pain, the issue is i never had any braxton hicks so i have nothing to go by,

is what i am feeling her moving? a contraction, a braxton hick?

its just above my bikini line and rather intense, enough to make me try and rub it, a bit like when you over stretch a muscle.

i wish we had a light bulb that lit up to let us know we were in labour, my issue is my brother is coming down to look after the dogs for us and he is 3 or so hours away

i wouldnt say im bk on my feet, dont think i ever will be but im doing ok :)

well cramps are lasting about 30 secs, not sure how often...... must try and time them issue is i am that engrossed in the TV i'm not noticing them..

i'm hoping this is the start of something, a 5hr labour would be nice and Pepper and i would share our birthdays, not gonna happen thou.

will time them over the next 2 hours and if their getting stronger, more regular i will give my brother a call

hey hey missy no queue jumping , i need some clary sage to put in my bath and rub on my bump, i cant find it and im betting i chucked it out caus i hate the smell of it but i had such a promising day till about 3ish pm when everything stopped looking so much like it would happen tonight

well cramps eased off it seems.... this is driving me mad, my pelvis is now agony again

hiya, im a student midwife - baths will either stop your contractions all together or make them stronger. if it knocks them off then they were real contractions

moving around in water though can be a good form of pain relief x

edit - werent real contraction - doh!

thanks hun, thats good to know.......

i find water an amazing form of pain relief and would love a water birth but due to several complications this is not an option

I'm confused, do you mean if it stops the contractions then they were real ones?

I am also loving my baths atm, but want LO here ASAP!
