Will you be giving breastfeeding a go?

i be breast feeing if i can iam willing to try it but if unable to be bottles but defo willing to try it

Yes, absolutely. I joined La Leche this week (and went to my first meeting), which was wonderful. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it is a great support group, run by volunteers to help women be successful at breastfeeding, be it 1 day or 1 year. They have a website, with location meetings and times. The meeting I went to was really great - lots of moms of toddlers and younger, to give tips, suggestions and introduce you to problems that you may/may not have.

I also learned some interesting things about pumping and freezing - specifically that all women have an enzyme in their milk that causes it to sour. The point of freezing is to slow down the action of the enzyme - but with SOME women, just freezing doesn't work. So, if you plan on pumping and storing, you REALLY need to do some testing first to see how 'active' your enzyme is. It would be awful to pump and freeze a ton, just to thaw and have it all gone bad. You can heat your milk before freezing (not scald/burn it) which will break down the enzyme, and allow the milk to be frozen for longer. This isn't necessary for everyone, and ideally, you don't want to heat it, as that does break down some of the good proteins in the milk - but still better than formula.

Yay, looking forwards to breastfeeding again! I loved it last time, free, always ready, and perfect excuse for a good cuddle and having someone else make you a cuppa, excellent! It appeals to my sense of cheapness, as well as being really convenient. I do remember the frustration of the first couple of days, but once we both worked out what we were doing it was a really good experience :)

Absolutely I will be breast feeding! I'm very much looking forward to nourishing my child, even if it causes some minor anxiety that I'll work though. I'll also work through any other issues that may come up, with whatever help I need to seek out. I plan to breast feed for at least one year, and see how things go from there.

It's all about mind frame ladies!

Edit: I do know there are legitimate things that might keep women from breast feeding, I'm not meaning anything by those with my last comment.

I'm undecided...I tried to BF my first 2 bubs with no success but am willing to try again but the stress involved can be quite stressful lol so i guess we'll see..

Going to try my very hardest. Last time I had trouble with too little milk production and stress but managed to stretch out bfing for 3 months before they just stopped producing. This time I hope the stress factor is gone and can bf for longer.

Yep! Went 18 months with my daughter plan to do it again with this one :)

I am gonna give it a good go but it scares me tbh heard that many stories about it hurting and bleeding and such I am scared

They were the ones who helped me last time.. if it wern't for them I'd have given up.. they were amazing :)

Not this time round no did it with my son for 3 weeks and just wasn't for me. x

I'll def be trying my best to make bf work. I know how this might sound, but I've a really, really overbearing MIL, I'm determined to BF so that she can't take baby away from me and put pressure on me to have him/her all of the time. It's also more cost effective and convenient, but I confess I think I'll work though any issues just to keep the MIL at bay as she has already said she would be pleased if I bottle-feed so she can 'help' out with feeding.

Yes. I will be breastfeeding and pumping from when she is born. I want DH to be able to feed her too so thats why I want to start pumping early. Its a brill bonding experience for me and him, so I feel it would be selfish of me to not pump and stop him feeding his child. (My opinion, thats what works for us, not everyone else :) ) I BF and pumped with both boys up to 6 months

Provided it all goes well, and I have milk, I'm actually looking very much forward to!

I'd also like to express every once in a while for my DH to have a go at feeding the bubba.

Fingers crossed.:flower:

Definitely! i've breastfed all my children so i'm definitely doing the same this time :)

I wont be and I have very valid personal reasons as to why. My biggest worry at the moment is pressure from midwifes to bf as I dont wish to discuss the reason why with them but worried they wont understand unless I tell them :(

yep i will be! but downside about it i will have to wake up and feed the baby when need feeding!

:haha: Definitely a perk of BFing! With Nolan I HATED other people feeding him (I wasn't successful with BFing, so he was on formula since 2 weeks old) but what could I say? This baby I will breastfeed and not have to share that with everyone and their brother. :winkwink:

Actually you can get more sleep by breastfeeding than bottle feeding. I was never sleep deprived with my son. All you have to do is master bf in the laying sideways technique (google u can find pics) and as soon as you master that you'll only need to wake up for a couple minutes to grab baby have him latch on then go back to sleep.
