will you chose a section next time?!

hbac for me if I go into labour myself (was induced at 42wks with ds). I went through all of labour and only had emcs as his hr went up and there was meconium. I was told when coming out of theatre that there was no reason I couldn't vbac next time!

I'm just going to ask for an ELCS next time. I like the idea of picking my date and honestly having a VBAC scares me:wacko:

i definitely want an elective this time after 36 hour labour and emergency section last time even changed hospital as midwife suggested hospital i went to last time against elective sections
x

After my labour and eventual emergency c-section, I'm convinced that I have something wrong in that area which means I will not ever be able to have a normal vaginal birth.

So, rather than put myself through all that again. I will most definitely be going straight for the c-section. Not a doubt in my mind.

I had an elective section previously and tbh, it went absolutely perfectly - even the surgeon said it was a record for the fastest he'd performed. My recovery went without a hitch and I was almost back to normal fairly quickly - I had no complications whatsoever and didn't "suffer" with pain.

However! I really want a VBAC this time round - having to have the elective section, I never got to experience baby engaging, contractions, the excitement that *this is it!* - I just kinda feel like I missed out so at least want to attempt it, even though I know it's still very likely I'll end up with another section anyway, at least I can say I've tried and satisfy my own desires in that regard :flower:

I think since I had to have a csection for my first (she just would not come out!!), I will have to have a csection for any future babies. Which I am fine with :)

I would love to have a vaginal delivery, but I would hate to have to go through labour again and still have to have a section :'(

I am not planning any more babies for a while, just curious as to weather you ladies will be going for an elective if you've had an emergency section previously?!

I had an emergency with my first due to lack of progress, raised temperature and dipping heartrate of baby.

I went for a VBAC with my second, had an elective booked for Term+11 and ended up with the elective after 4 days latent labour.

Next time I'll be opting for the elective as my experience this time was so positive and I don't think my body labours properly!

Hmmmm, really not sure... I would like to have a natural birth but I ended up having an emergency CS with a general anaesthetic, so I didn't see my daughter until I woke up. This is something I still find difficult to accept, so I don't want to have to go through the natural birth process again only for it to happen to me again. I would be so gutted not to see my child straight away . So I may elect to have a CS next time, just for this reason .

I won't choose to have a c section, but if i end up having to have another section, so be it.

I hope to have a VBAC though.

i hope to have a vbac. the dude in surgery after i had my section said shouldnt be a prob in having natural birth next time, harry was in distress and had pooed inside my waters when they popped em so had to have section, i got to encounter a few contractions weird feeling but nice feeling,so hopiing when we have next one i can have natural and if i have to have a section again then never mind,as long as baby is fine i dont care. i just told em to do what they needed to when harry arrived

I had to have a C sec due to placenta praevia. My recovery was fab, my scar is non existant and im happy to do it all again.

Id go for the VBAC, ive never been in labour before so the absolute last thing i would want is an emergency c sec with a stuck stressed baby NO WAY!!!!!....so im opting for another elective!

vbac here. Already talked to my doctor about it. I had 4 vaginal deliveries, and then a csection (for a very large baby). Unless my future kid is large, then he sees no reason for me not to have a natural delivery. :) I hated labor and delivery, but the recovery was a breeze. The recovery from the csection was a nightmare, especially since I was pretty much on my own after a week, chasing after a 7,5,4,and 2yr old while trying to establish nursing with a newborn. The pain was awful, and even months after the csection, I had issues with pain and tenderness along the incision.

I have an almost 5 month old and I am 11 weeks pregnant I am planning a VBAC..I will never have a csection unless medically needed for mine and my los saftey...I hated my csection and very depressed. Current dr. said the csection was medically not needed and should have been vaginal. Makes me sad so praying my birth plan plays out this time.

My hospital is quite strict and has advised me that any future deliveries need to be c-section. However I am happy about this. I had an 'elective-turned-emergency' section with my first due to placenta praevia (it was booked as elective but ended up bleeding early). My 2nd I chose VBAC but my body just wouldn't comply. Also they didn't tell me I couldn't walk about, use birthing pool and stay mobile - I have a chronic back problem and couldn't have lain on bed being monitored for hours!
My 2nd c-section was lovely and recovery was a walk in the park compared to my first section.

I'm thinking I will go for csec like some of the others have said I would be worried that if I tried vbac I would end up with emcs as I heard them saying I hard a narrow birth canal so I think my body not able to do naturally?

Annie I am glad your second section was a positive experience but your hospital cannot tell you you have to hace a c-section. If you want to vbac and there's no medical reason not to you have the right to choose to vbac.

Without a doubt, I'll be an elective section the 2nd time around, same as the first.

We're not planning on having any more! But if we did I would def go for another ElCS.I had such a good experience , I could find no faults

This is exactly how I feel. I'm very worried that there's something wrong with my body that stopped my labour progressing.
I know it will be hard recovering from a section with a toddler and a newborn but it will be easier if we can plan for it, rather than me try labour again, end up having a section and then having to struggle. We don't have family close by so knowing exactly when my section is happening will be a huge benefit.
