So my daughter has a bottle at 10pm and then I pop her in her moses basket. She normally starts stirring in her sleep 3 hours later and I give her a 5oz bottle and she doesn't wake whilst drinking but I'm totally confused about winding! I try and wind her but I'm there like half hour because she's so asleep nothing is coming up but you can tell from her grunting she has wind. I only change her nappy if it's soiled during the night but should I wake her to make sure the wind comes up? Last night I gave up with the winding and layed her back down and she squirmed for ages still with eyes shut but eventually went to sleep for another 3 hours. How does everyone else manage dream feeds? X

My baby is half awake during his night time feeds, unless he's had enough sleep.
He will never finish a 5oz bottle (he has about 4oz). We do wind him, most of the time we wind him until the wind comes up as h'll only wake an hour later crying for it.

Be persistent with wind, its not comfortable. Try rocking him back and forth and round in circles. The best way for us is to face him towards us in the sitting position, his weight will bend him slightely forward (but do support him). The bend will put pressure on his stomach and bring wind up. Use your fingers to tap firmly to aid it.

If you dont want to wake her then best thing to do is put her on your shoulder in an upright position and gently rub her back for 10-15 mins before putting her down. The upright position will help any wind come up easier. xxx

WATCH THE SICK THOUGH!

Not always great with a baby's face directly at yours when winding

My lady it's great at being up wind in the night but I find change her nappy wakes her up just enough to get a burp, also the fact he had been lying down for a couple of minutes helps to brings up a burp. So even of you don't want to change the nappy try lying flat for a minute and then bring back up (even a belly rub or bicycle legs at this point) should get a nice burp after that :)
