We're using epaderm to I have no idea what to do I put him in mittens last night I'm sure that's made it worse to must of been rubbing his face . I'm at my wits end X

Poor little guy. He is gorgeous by the way. I believe that eczema usually has a cause. Finding the cause can be easier said than done but its worth a try. Does he have any other symptoms of a possible milk allergy? Or it could be something he comes in contact with. Is i5 only on his face?

We trialed a week of prescription milk but the dietician said she didn't think it was that as t cleared up but I was using steroid cream and it came back when I stopped the cream so I was told to go back to forumla I can't think of anything that he only has contact with on his face . Thank you he's such a happy baby and I hate knowing its probably hurting him X

Do you wash your clothes in the same detergent you use for his clothes? DS gets a rash on his face when his grandparents come to visit because of his face getting against their clothes when he has cuddles.

If its just on his face I supose try and think of.anything his face regularly comes in contact with. Like the sofa, bedding etc and if you use a different product on anything.

A week isnt very long to trial no dairy. You might see some improvement but you wouldnt expect it to be totally gone in that time.

Hope you work it out soon.

I thought the same about the dairy but because he has no other symptoms they think it's not that. . I wash everything in fairy X

Did you try a probiotic? Sometimes skin irritations start in the gut and when working on that can see an improvement from the outside if that makes sense. I plan to start one with our lo soon but not for the same thing. They have infant ones. Also with the dairy, I don't think they have to show all the symptoms for it to be that, although they might be right and it might not be the culprit here. I went off dairy for our lo because she was always irritated nursing and would just scream for hours at night. I went off dairy and she only started to improve in a week but it took a few to see it all leave. I think things like dairy can affect kids in different ways. I'm so sorry you are still dealing with that.. I know it must be so frustrating :hugs:

Poor baby..
I'm far from an expert with eczema but before getting pregnant with Isabelle I stated suffering with it on my boobs! Would flare up horrible particularly on one, didn't have it anywhere else. The doctor prescribed me
Steroid creams that took it away but each time I stopped it would come back worse if anything... Also tried all the normal over the counter creams that didn't seem to do much. In the end I just used a very small amount of hydrocortisone cream and slowly stopped then just left it. It cleared eventually with no cream. Felt like all the creams were making it worse in the end. Does it get really bad without creams? Maybe try leaving it and just keeping anything that could irritate away and see how it goes.. prob completely wrong just thought would mention my experience incase it helps, hope cruz is eczema free soon xxx

I'm sure you are using silcocks base for to wash him ect ? I use it on my little boys face twice a day , morning and evening as a moisturiser . He has dermatitis and it really helps relieve the dryness and discomfort . Its not medicated so can be used as necessary

My now 3 year old had severe excema from 8 weeks, I was breast feeding and so the Drs suspected a milk allergy, after me excluding milk from my diet and not much change he was referred to the dermatologist. After lots of begging, the dermatologist agreed to refer for allergy tests, at 10 months old he was diagnosed with an egg, wheat and milk allergy. Once I stopped breast feeding, the excema went, we still get the odd patch and use dermol 500 in the bath, diprobase to keep his skin soft and if it flares we have hydrocortisone and eumovate. Hope this helps, it's awful when your baby has excema and you can't do much to help. Xxxx

Does he take a probiotic? We tried my daughter on 4 different Kinds and after each she broke out in horrible eczema patches. I think she had what's called histimine intolerance as a few probiotic strains are supposed to cause a reaction.

Oh wow. I didn't realize that could happen. Good to know!

It cleared up and is now back

I know it is a pain in the bum but the good news is a LOT of cases of infant eczema clear up totally by age 2 or are only mild. I drove myself mad wondering what caused it, should I bath her more or less, use soap or not, use household ingredients or just doctors prescriptions....at the end of the day sometimes there is no reason.

One thing I forgot to say was OAT BATHS. They were lovely for my LO. You put a load of oats in a muslin cloth, tie it up and hang it under running bath water, or in the bath. It creates an oat milk in the bath which is silky and moisturising. Because my LO's face was particularly prone to bad weeping eczema, I would take the oaty muslin bag once it was all soggy and had been soaking and use it as a sponge to wash her face with so the oat goodness got to her face too. It creates a mess in the bath but worth it in my opinion.

Did you keep using the emollients multiple times a day even when he was symptom free?

Hang in there.. Mine did that all the time.. Now haven't hAd any since about 16 weeks pregnant with Isabelle. If u possibly can I would steer clear of the steroid creams and use things to relieve the itch maybe. Fingers crossed it goes and stays away soon xxx

Thsnks girls yeh I'm going to try and stay a Away from steroids now yeh we use the creams loads throughout the day
The thing is his face isn't even dry it's just bright red patches but he is soft as anything
Some one else told me about the oat baths and He had two then I used the oilatium again so tonight he had the oats bath again
Yeh I get upset and don't no what I'm meant to be doing to help him nothing seems to work c

My DS1 gets eczema and the single biggest cause for him is laundry powder. If he ever wears anything that has been washed in 'normal' powder he comes out in eczema. We use Persil Sensitive and it is very good, his eczema rarely flares up now. Use everything fragrance free and don't use soap, etc.

Is it just on his face? It could be from rubbing his face against something (sheets?) that have been washed in something he's sensitive to.

Your son's eczema looks quite mild to me, I really wouldn't stress about it. The only thing that works for my eczema (I am allergic to soap so my hands get covered in eczema) is Aveeno Skin Relief - it has oat extracts in it and it really takes the inflammation out.

He has slight patches on his body but not bad and there not red like his face we use fairy X
