i don't know is this is in the right place but has anyone done their work risk assessment yet?

I am currently workng fulltime and am 11 weeks. I have to do 2 shifts a week where I work 9am-8pm and wondered if those hours would come under 'long hours' that are mentioned when discussing risk assessments?

I want to hint to them to cut those shifts a bit without moaning but don't want to if that doesn't count as long hours. It's just that on those days I leave the house at 8am and don't arrive home till 9pm and I am literally exhausted. I don't see my family so am just on my own in the mornings and evenings, then exhuasted all the next day.

Hope that made sense.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I recently had some issues with my employer regarding my risk assessment and ended up calling the Health and Safety Executive for advice, and I have to say they were brilliant.

Have you advised your employer of your pregnancy in writing just yet? Basically when you give them written advice that you are pregnant they legally have to carry out a risk assessment. This should include discussing your hours etc - if you are finding it hard say so and ask for them to be changed.

If you need any more info I would 100% recommend calling HSE helpline for advice - I also spoke to a Tommys midwife who was an absolute superstar and really helped me get things sorted in my head, she was just brilliant. Might be useful to have a chat and see what they thing about your hours etc.

If you want to change them though I would just say the hours are too much, I want to change - dont just hint - get them told! You might want to change back again in a few weeks when you get your energy back, but for now get them changed.

Hope that helps!

I sent them an email on Friday after the scan confirming my due date and pregnancy and am due back at work on Monday. I will tell them about the hours because it's just too much, really is.

Thanks for the advice xxx
