Hi all :hi:

I'm thinking of getting a moses basket to start with, but i'm not sure if it's worth it? How long until they grow out of it? We had a wooden crib for Grace and she hated it and moved into a cot quite quickly. Do you get alot of use out of yours? xx

Sophie was in hers for about 14/15 weeks. I got mine given to me and bought a new insert thing for the bottom, otherwise I might have thought twice about buying one!

i got the katie crib from babies r us. Maz is coming up 8 weeks and thankfully still in it. It is nice and deep. Made with material instead of wood.

Not much help with the moses basket question though, sorry

My daughter was in hers in our room for about 5 weeks and then we put her in the basket in the cot for a further 2 weeks. She was then in her cot. This is because she is a very long baby and out-grew it very quickly. I did like having one as it meant she could sleep in it in the living room during the day. Also, she looked very cute in it!

we got a bassenet wich is a tiny bit bigger and stronger than a mosses basket. she out grew hers by about 4 and a half months.
i would really recomend getting a mosses basket even if u just get the cheapest one u can find as the ease of being able 2 carry it from room 2 room where u r for the first few weeks was really important to us xx.

Louis is still in his. We first tried to put him in a wooden crib that someone gave us but he hated it and kept crying as soon as we seiches to Moses basket it was great he slept a lot better iv tried to put him in the crib a few times since and he still doesn't like it. I think the Moses basket is just a lot more comfortable.

He's still in it now but I think he has maybe a month max left in it and he was only has a month max left in it

xx

Daniel is 14 weeks and still has a good few inches left in his basket.

John Lewis do a lovely one including the mattress for just £29!!!

I had that one with Anna and she was in it for 10wks.

Although a short time, it was something I am soooo glad I bought. Anna slept about 20 hours a day. If I didnt have the moses basket I would have had to have her in her cot upstairs all on her own all day. Moses basket is great as if they are sleeping you can carry it about the house with you too!!:flower:

my lo was in his for about 4 weeks, then he went into his cot. during that 4 weeks we used it in the lounge during the day and in our room at night. i would say its worth borrowing one if possible, or trying to buy a second hand one, but always buy a new mattress. dont pay a lot for one in my opinion. looking back, if and when i have a second, i might prob just put the baba straight into the cot!

A friend borrowed me hers and as Marley was a long baby, he grew out of it within 10 weeks. It was one of theose rocking ones and because he was a big boy, he would tip to one side of the moses basket all the time so we had to put a pair of socks under the rockers haha x

I think they are good for when they are really small, nut if you have a larger baby, see if you can get a good cheap one or if anyone can lend you one.

My LO was in hers up until she reached 5 months then we decided because she can sit herself up we'd better switch her into a cot x

My son was in his moses basket for three and a half months xx

Abigail was in hers for about 30minutes once (or at least thats all it felt like) before deciding she would much rather sleep in the big bed with mummy.

I was saying to my husband yesterday I wish I didnt bother buying a moses basket and bouncer.. (combined £120) as I ended up buying a lovely swing to help with her colic and she slept in that most of the time, and slept soo well it with the swinging. Im definietly going to do that next time x

She didnt really like her basket and was only in it until max 10 weeks x

Isla was in hers for 3 months until she outgrew it. I loved having it though, she always slept well in it. I agree try and get a cheapie one. Mine only cost me £15 incl. stand on ebay, just bought a new mattress for £5

hmmm nicole was in hers for 3 wks. she hated the lack of room on the sides. it did help at the start, saved me running up and down the stairs. we got our one in mothercare, probably give it away. not having any more kids, although i said that too after i had my son :haha:

We got 2, both second hand. 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs.

The 1 for upstairs was a mothercare one, was really long and deep but was narrow and when Earl flailed (as newborns do) it would scare him awake. We scrapped it at 2.5 weeks and just used it for emergency 'somewhere safe to put him' while I was cleaning or in the loo lol.

The one downstairs was mamas and papas, cost £5 with everything included from a car boot! lol. Now this one was shorter but shallower and wider and Earl loved it! He was a big baby though and when he got to 6 weeks I had to give up as he just wouldn't fit any more. I then swapped this for his travel cot. He had been in his cot in his own room since 2.5 weeks so basicaly at 5 weeks, no more moses basket.

I didn't feel too bad as they were 2nd hand, cheap enough and we're going to have a second one in the next year or so, so they'll get some more use (probably another 5 weeks lol) then.

I got mine bought to me but Id buy one for the start because it was handy bringing it down to the living room while LO slept. He grew outta his at about 3 months.Im just going to keep it incase we have another baby.xxx

Lo was only in it for 8 weeks when we had to move him to his cot as he was bashing his hands on the sides. However, I still found it really useful in those early weeks as it meant we could carry him around in it and put him down for a nap in the same room that we were in. You can get them pretty cheap - ours was £28 from Morthercare.
