I saw this video on youtube. Would seeing a video in school have stopped you having sex so young? Would if had made you think twice about having sex

I fell pregnant with Aidan at 16. And I think this video would have shocked me (in a sense of oh my word that looks so scary). But I don't think it would have put me off having sex. I think it is very scare mongering (maybe a good thing?, maybe not) I suppose it serves it's purpose. It makes you stop and think.

Your views? Should it be shown in school? Do you think it will be effective?
xx

Didnt shock me that I was expecting far worse. I am sure she would know she was preg or wouldnt be at school so close to labour . I dont think that will put young ones off sex , if they going to do it they will. I dont see that as some sort of birth control advert. But then I am old and all.

Thats what I said to my friend. We arn't allowed at school so close to labour.

honestly i think if most teenagers were shown that in a school environment would probably laugh

Hmm most may do. I was just a bit taken back by how graphic it was and how much she was screaming etc

i think that too. it was nearly as graphic as some videos they show in health class down here, but that doesn't seem to put kids off it either

They would have been better just showing they are half hour doco with a real labour then after babies born??

Did any of your schools ever have the virtual babies??

Thats horrible but probably wouldn't put me off coz its blatently fake lol x

Only thing we where ever shown in school apart from lack of sex ed was vids of actual abortions, and thats graphic! most the girls in my class where pregnantly then to. I think sex ed would have been good before that.

My school did but I found the virtual baby was nothing like a real baby

For example my virtual baby cried ALL the time half an hour breaks maybe. Now Aidan was nothing like that he slept loads.

They sort of didn't talk about teen pregnancy that much and when they did they made it seem like our lives would be over. Which I have found out to be complety untrue

I think a real teen mum talking to students and giving her experiance would be a good idea. May follow her from first finding out she was pregnant until birth.Like a video diary sort of thing.

I don't know

I dont think it will work either. However you are allowed at school this close to labour. When i was doing my GCSE's there was a girl who was 39weeks preg and she came into do an exam and actually went into labour during the exam

In my area after 6 months you are sent off to a mother and baby unit, due to health and safety. Must be different in some places

Yes i find the everything is diffrent everywhere tbh.
But they do have to put in special precausitions so going into labour in the middle of a field def wouldnt happen

you lefty when you found out you where preg when I was at school. They didnt allow it, was shameful etc. If you where in the grammar nun run schools you where expelled on the spot. People would just disappear form my class and first you knew was when they where gone.

Wow that's disgraceful. So glad times have moved on from then

Well I am in Ireland and nuns are not nice and understanding lol dont know if they still like that now though. Thankful it wasnt earlier days of the Magdeline sisters is where Irish girls where sent after they had babies.

I can't watch it on my comp as I have a dongel and it will use on my usage. I will look for it on amazon

No wonder they said babies ruined lives in them days, the poor girls werent given a chance. My grandad was irish and my auntie became pregnant at 16. I don't think he was mad, mum just said he accpeted it
xx

My great granddad was a dad at 14! in certain parts it wasnt expectable though.

Ive read a story abou something similar not sure if its the same thing. Like a true life thing. Where they had their babys taken from them and then were forced to work. Also in this one it was harrowing as whist the were working they were also abused. Sometimes it hard to compend it as real life

yeah they where treated like crap. I had nuns in my school and I am sure if they where allowed to hit us they would, nasty dam things. Hence my no respect for them. Not like that now though. dare yuo bring shame on the family, now thats an Irish thing even my family go by. I was threatened plenty of times by mum about not getting pregnant as a teen as it would bring shame on them all.
