ok, i've been able to empathize with many of you for WEEKS about this sore pelvis/vagina feeling--you know, like you've been booted in the crotch. Someone also described it as feeling like you've been riding a bike for entirely too long. I've been feeling it for weeks, same pain that bothers me whenever I roll over in bed. It also hurts whenever I get it from a sitting/laying position. I have a pillow under my ass at work all day just to try and help a little bit.

However, today, starting a few hours ago, it's like the pain just left me. What's with that?! Not that I'm not thankful, but the pain came when baby engaged so I assumed that's what it was...but if it's gone, does that mean he disengaged?

Do any of you have any theories?

I was about to ask you the secret of said pain relief lol my parts feel like i've been kicked with steel toed boots over and over!

oh I wish I could tell you! I have no idea, as I said it's been weeks of this and it was gradually getting worse; my waddle reached the height of its sway-ability...and now it's nothing. It started as just no pelvic pain, but I still had slight pain in my inner thighs...and now it's gone. I just shot up from the couch to grab water and was in the kitchen before I realized that it didn't hurt me in the least  so freaking weird!

Hate to say it but my pelvic pain went away when mine disengaged, and came back when she engaged again. Hopefully that's not the case for you, though. Maybe he just turned a bit in a different direction and relieved some stress down there?

i hope that's all it was...how did you know she disengaged? how far along where you when that happened?

My doctor told me she was engaged at my 35, 36, and 37 week appointments, disengaged at my 38 week appointment, and engaged again and "totally locked in" at my 39 week appointment. I noticed the difference in pelvic pain, less pressure on my cervix, and return of horrible heartburn when she disengaged.

I feel u on the pelvis pain. But then some days the pain is gone then comes back. I think it means she's moving up and down. Sorry to say lol

it's so weird because i'm still feeling the same pains on my cervix/ass/pelvis as he presses down...and his feet and little booty are still in the same place. So strange...Oh well, watch I'll be up tomorrow with the pain back ten fold :dohh: anyway the doctor said he was well engaged and set to go at my last appointment (39+2) so I'm not sure I buy into the disengaging thing...or maybe I just don't want to lol

He could be tilting back more? So that not all the pressure is on the front of your pelvis?

Well, either he needs to come RIGHT NOW, or hold off for two more days...so, hopefully this either means YES TONIGHT and not YES REALLY REALLY SOON.

i had this happen with DD. the day before she was born i felt like i could walk a marathon. (so i pretty much did) not sure if it was a sign or if it was all the walking that did it because never heard any1 else say it..

but you never know! x

Even if it does mean disengagement, seriously - it's nothing to worry about. Some babies just pop in and out of there repeatedly right up until the birth; others don't engage one little bit until the birth (yes, even first babies!) while most do seem to follow a pattern of engaging within the last few weeks. Some babies are just different!

This is my third pregnancy, and not once throughout any of them have I had anyone tell me that my baby had engaged - not even partially. My first baby NEVER engaged until labour, and even that didn't stop my waters from breaking. My second was the same - didn't engage whatsoever until I was literally halfway through labour.

This little man does seem to keep moving down, then up, then down (sigh) and then up again but I pay no heed, because the truth is that engagement bears no real relevance to when they'll actually arrive.

So, relax :)

I don't have any theories. I just wanted to tell you that I love that you chose to use awesome to describe how your pelvis feel. LMAO. I just want the pain to go away but hey, I'll take my pelvis feeling awesome too.:haha:

Anyway hope the pain doesn't come back! :flower:

Thanks to all! I don't know what's going on, I feel freaking awesome. Could be because I just slept about 11.5 hours, which is longer than I've slept in months. Could also be that for once I didn't wake up ever time I moved due to pelvic pain.

thank goodness no signs of labor today, unless all of this is a sign...but I figure even if things started right now, the odds of him being born today aren't very high :happydance:

but yeah, I am still confused but I guess I'll just embrace it! I can actually see tendons in my hands today which I haven't been able to do for weeks because of the swelling....and my feet! Holy crap! I mean, they're still swollen but it really has gone down! Actually, I'm about to subject you all to some photos here so you know what I mean...to be continued...

Ok, really, look at this. First one is from two days ago (granted it was at night, but it was after I had my foot rested up for a couple of hours). Second picture is from this morning. I know it's still a little on the large side, but surely you can see the difference!
