half thinking of getting OH one of these for xmas but dont know anything about them! which is best? i see alot of the girls here talking about their OH's and xboxes!
x-box, ps3 or wii...which is better?

We have two Ps3's and a Wii. But growing up we always had Xbox. LOL. I think all are good but we like our Ps3's for bluray

XBOX 360 is the best - Halo etc are all on there. PS3 is overpriced and it's not any better than the 360. Wii is mostly for kids and family gaming.
You can also use the XBOX to play DVDs and if you have the network set up you can watch videos from your computer on the XBOX or videos from XBOX live. We copy DS' DVDs on to the computer and watch them on the XBOX. No need to get out the DVD and risk him snapping it. You can even get a remote for it if you use these features a lot.
If you get him a 360 spend the money for a wireless rechargeable controller - not the ones that takes AA batteries. DH and I game and it's way better.

It really depends on what kind of games he likes to play 
The Wii is more of a family console, based on fun and using the WiiMotes. Graphically, it's not as good as the others, and you can't play DVDs using it.
I don't have an XBox 360, as none of the games on it that aren't also available on the PS3 appeal to me
The PS3 might be more expensive, but it's also better quality, imo. It's also a Blu-Ray player, which is nice. The graphics (if you have an HD TV and connect it with an HDMI cable) are gorgeous. Far outstrip the same game on XBox. We got the Avatar game (of the James Cameron film), and it was stunning. Played the same game on XBox, and yes, it played fine, but it wasn't as pretty
So really depends on how important good graphics are to your OH?
I'd also wait till a bit nearer the time, as a lot of shops will have bundle deals going on as Christmas approaches.

i have all 3, wii isn't even in the running as a 'gamers' console.

Ps3 - by far the best for adults it also has a lot more features than the 360. Most of my male mates wh went out and bought the xbox because 'everyone said it was better' have regretted it after playing with my ps3!
Also, sony don't charge you to connect to your own internet, like microsft do!
And best of all, it has iplayer so you can catch up on eastenders
Superior sound/graphics, web browser, voted best blu-ray player this year by 'which' etc.. the only downside is ofcourse games like halo and forza you cant get on ps3, but imo, those are 2 rubbish games anyway! COD and F1 all the way!

I have a black wii, a xbox elite, and a ps3.
The wii is definatly aimed at kids and girls
The ps3 is okay (but its the third we have had - the lasers kept going on the others) and its good for blu-ray!
And my fav is def the xbox360 Its brilliant, some of my fav games are the ones you can only get for that. And plus all my lad mates love it! Its never broke or died on me!

i have a wii and i love it!! me and the my eldest love playing it together and my mates love playing it too.
for serious gaming though i would say the xbox. i had one before it got the dreaded ring of red lights!!!! was so so good.

Xbox 360 is good but I hate how you have to pay for the online services and when we had them there was no built in wifi. There are a lot of good games though and the choice seems more extensive.
Wii in my opinion is a load of rubbish. It's childish and you can't do anything else but play games with it. No dvd's no Blu rays and the thing isn't even HD. The graphics are blocky and probably something ps1 could spit out and to top it all off the thing is way overpriced. When I had one I sold it within the week. I had the nice black shiny one brand new, bought the wii fit plus with balance board. Cost me loads and I got a mere £80 back on it. A lesson learned indeed.
I have 2 Ps3's and IMO it is the best console. It's an all round media centre. You can have photos, music, video. It has built in wifi and it plays blurays. The graphics are awesome and you don't have to pay any rip off yearly subscriptions to play online per user account. You have funky playstation home and the store has loads of games to download pretty cheaply. The only thing that really bugs me is that its made out of that glossy plastic and it gets dusty easy.

My OH works in a games shop and has all the consoles ever made lol as he is a bit of a geek.
He only uses his PS3 for blu rays really and hardly plays games on it.
We both play the xbox 360 loads. It is such a good console and i don't know many people that play PS3 over xbox.
