I was working last night and missed the show but this isn't a surprise.
I read through the comments here and it was like watching it.
But it says in the paper today that right until the very last minute it was supposed to be decided on the public vote alone, no sing off and no judges vote.
Even on the X Factor official website it said the person with the lowest public vote would leave as it was down to the public only to decide last night.
And then they realised Little Miss (C)rap was the one with the lowest votes, panicked and held a sing off, which made it down to the judges vote, not the public one. And I think they would have done that if anyone other than Mary was the lowest, unless perhaps it was Rebecca, I think they would be prepared to lose her too.
I don't think Mary would have won the final but it is wrong to change the rules to keep in Cher, who judging by this certainly won't win either, she's almost certainly going to be the first one out of the final.
If more people voted for Mary to be in the final this week then they should have accepted that and sent her there. It's very wrong to let people vote for her on that basis and then say "actually, the public picked Mary but we'd rather have Cher, so we are making up the rules as we go along and having a sing off instead."
Cher is riding the gravy train with someone elses ticket now, I hope that makes her feel good about herself.
oooh, I didn't even want Mary to win but this has riled me
