Your Music and Your Toddler

Owen loves nothing more than having a dance around to whatevers in the charts, his fave at the moment is LMFAO im sexy and I know it!:haha:

They tend to bleep the swearwords out and any innuendos, kids dont understand anyway.I dont have any problems with it,Owen has a very eclectic taste for a toddler:haha:
This

My two love that song

Edie is a dancer and I'm pretty sure she was a dj in a past life :haha:

I refuse to play/listen to recorded nursery rhymes as it would do my head in. I'll recite anything but I will not listen to it.

She likes The Beetles, Adele, Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, The Dirty Heads, The Grateful dead and Michael Franti basically any Reggae :haha: she does like some good dance music on occasion though.

I took her to a Franti concert over the summer and she LOVED it.

Am I the only one that has a toddler that freaks out when I try to sing to him or with him? He used to love it, but hates it now. He'll start yelling "No! Not you! No, Mamma, not youuuuu!"

Gawd, I must have a terrible singing voice!

Mine does this too! He quite often tells me I'm not allowed to sing along.

Oh good!!!! Whew! You have no idea how relieved I am that both your son and Ruby does this, too. Otter was really beginning to injure my self esteem. I know I'm no Adele... but c'mon! I can't be that bad! It's only Row Row Your Boat!

:haha:

I listen to all kinds around M. I don't really censor anything and we watch music TV during the day some days. I'm not really into censorship, but then we have a very laid back approach and M pretty much pleases herself.

She likes a good mixture, I'd say! She's mainly into nursery rhymes just now but is also a bit partial to terrible cheesy pop! Her favourite is probably anything by LMFAO!

We tend to only listen to music in the car and it's radio 2 (I'm so old!!!) Our childminder also has radio 2 on in the background a lot, so Brenna is used to music being on, but only pays attention to the ones she likes. She occassionally sees music videos when at the childminders because she has teenage daughters, but Brenna does her own censoring, she happily dances to JLS but Tinchy Strider (?) causes her to scream and run away.

Me and DH are big rock and metal fans and we are happy to listen to our music with Maia. She seems to like it and you can tell which songs are her favourites too.
We listen to Planet Rock radio at breakfast and it makes me grin when Maia starts bouncing and clapping when AC/DC comes on :)
I'm not bothered about the lyrics to be honest. As adults we may be aware of sexual metaphors etc but that's because we are adults. I don't believe it will mean anything to toddlers and young children.
Music is a big part of our lives and to be honest it wouldn't seem right to keep it from her.

Pretty much anything that has any sort of beat to it at all she dances to. Even the ringer on our telephone lmao! So yeah we listen to "our" music with her all the time and she loves it.

Yeah we pretty much always have music playing in the house if the TV isn't on so she listens to a lot of our music, she loves it! Ivy loves a good dirty bass. She is getting to the age where I am thinking about what I put on though as we listen to alot of hip hop and dub and perhaps songs that include the lyrics 'one spliff a day keeps the evil away' isn't particularly appropriate for an 18 month old :haha:
