Zithromycin

Has anyone taken zithromycin in 1st trimester? My GP prescribed it for a throat infection, but the pharmacist seems to think it's not safe during pregnancy.

I took it for a sinus infection at 5 weeks. I believe it's category b so they haven't found any risks. I have no issue having taken it. Baby is perfectly healthy and has all her parts in the right places, formed correctly, etc.

I was prescribed it on my second trimester two years ago. Pharmacist said I shouldn't take it, so I phoned my doc again and asked if i could really take it. He got mad to the pharmacist for making me scared. Then he said they probably have only manufacturer's data about medications in the pharmacy. He said manufacturers are always too cautious about their drugs, because want to avoid any possible law sues and that kind of things. Doc looked at some large database which was a collection of all the knowledge of medications during pregnancy and he said this antibiotics are marked safe there.
