I can give you only my bit of input which unfortunately isnt what most would like to hear but the result is a healthy 4 year old boy
.... In our case (we didnt find out till the 20 week ultrasound but the AFP blood test told us something was wrong. You still have time to get that if you like..its around 14 weeks. Our sons didnt go back into his abdomen because he had a hole in his abdominal wall, this is called gastroschisis. The other type of defect when the intestines stay in the umbilical cord is called omphalocele.. this is where the insestines and other organs stay in a sac outside the body within the umbilical cord. Both require operation to place all back inside. My son had 4 surgeries and a rough start, we also met a family during that time who had the omphalocele defect, he had one surgery and is now also a happy healthy 4 year old. I just wanted to shed some light here that although something like this can feel like the end of the world, there is so much hope IF that is the case for your child. By your next ultrasound they will be able to tell you for sure and if it is something id bet its one of those, and likely omphalocele if its in the cord. Good luck..FX for you and feel free to message anytime! things will be ok!
