So Fri. DH and I will finally see a specialist in the Fertility Dept. I'm so scared..I so don't know what to expect..and I'm kind of freaking out . DH goes in at 8am for a Sperm Analysis, and I have an afternoon appt. with the dr. later that day for what I believe is a consultation, and Idk what this will consist of. Do you guys have any advice, tips, or suggestions as to how to prepare for this?? We've been :sex: on & off this wk and I especially hope to do so the nxt 3 nights as well as I'll be "O" then, but my question is..should we stay clear from doing so atleast 1 day prior to his sperm analysis?? Will doing so affect his results you think? Also in regards to the collection of his Semen, DH wonders if I could participate in the process..sorry tmi (lol), but I'm guessing we shouldn't attempt that right?

DH is supposed to abstain for at least two days and no more than five days. Optimal is between 2 to 5 days, otherwise sperm analysis would not be accurate.

I live in the US and yes, the wife can come in to help if she chooses. I didn't because I thought it would be weird. :haha: I heard it can get messy since he needs to shoot into a cup.

For my appt, I went to an OBGYN that focuses on fertility. So he was in between a normal OBGYN and a Fertility Specialist. He can do everything a fertility specialist can do except for IVF. This was way more cost effective for me.

For the first appointment, he goes over the semen analysis, your medical health such as your menstrual schedule. You'll have a transvaginal ultrasound so he can look at your ovaries. Go over your bloodwork if you've taken any before the appointment. It's best if DH was there for the first appt with you because he'll have questions for DH too.

Thank you so much for your response. 6 months ago I had an HSG exam done..which wasn't so bad. It did not consist of DYE, which from what I've read is no joke :{. Do you know which type of test if any I could expect at the specialist office tomorrow? I was told I would get an "ultrasound"...is this the same as an HSG.

When I went to my 1st FS appt. After the consultation, they checked my ovaries, through ultrasound to see how many eggs I was had on each side (it was alot) and she told me I would be ovulating soon and from which side (this was back in Jan.) !! I had it done at both my FS appt.

I transfered to go see a RE because I felt the FS were pushing me into doing IVF , and with the RE she ran all types of tests like the 3rd day blood work, (she didnt check my boyfriend semen because he has a child already), and I had another ultrasound done. I was suppose to get a HSG done but she forgot to put in the order, so I never got it done. (this was in May)

Ultrasound and HSG is two different things.

HSG check your tubes, where they put the dye through.
A Ultrasound (They do it on the stomach and vaginally (where they look through your vajayjay because they say it's gives a better picture of the inside) ) is where they can check and see if you have fluid in your tubes (it would show up on a ultrasound) they can check your egg quality, see if you are ovulating and etc.

I'm not really experienced in this, but this is off what I went through with a Fertility Specialist and a RE.

Ok, thank you so much for your reply. What do you mean by "RE"? And also, I just finished Ovulating and having sex for 3 consecutive days straight. So right now I'm past Ovulation in my Cycle, do you think this is a good thing in regards to my Ultrasound, or a bad thing? I'm pretty sure they're going to want me to come back for a CD3 blood work exam and perhaps other stuff anyway, but so I'm wondering if tomorrow all we'll do is talk (consultation) :-k
