So OH and I don't want to know the sex of baby. We have out 20 week scan coming up in 2 and a half weeks. We've been scheduled automatically for a 3 d scan, 4d's are also offered. But we don't think we want to see baby's face until he or she comes. We just want to hear that everything is ok but we are not planning on looking at the screen. Yes, it's excruciating to do it this way but also fun. Anybody else doing the same thing?? Are we nuts?

Personally, I think you're nuts. I somewhat understand not finding out his/her gender, but not seeing him/her at all!? After finding out Zoe's gender and seeing her again, I had only seen her at 8 weeks as a little peanut looking blob... it was moving and am now more attached than ever to her. I honestly think getting to see her made that happen. I still would be super attached if I didn't know her gender, but I think that was the cherry on top. Personally, I'd watch. I think it might be something you regret not doing...just my opinion!

Thanks! I'm wondering if we might regret it too.

I think it's lovely. I don't think I've bonded with baby any more because I've seen a picture of them. You feel them move around you (and your OH feels them kick from outside!) you talk to them and love them before they are born. For me, that's unaffected by whether you see a grainy picture or not.

Entirely up to you, but I think it's a really sweet idea.

Seeing their face won't ruin any surprises because they're still so featureless still, I was staring at my scan photos for ages trying to figure out what my baby will look like and I just can't tell. I was hoping to see whether they look like me or OH, anything I could, and to be honest there's just no difference between our scan pictures and anybody elses, a shame for me, but for you it's a great reason to watch them wiggling around whilst you have the opportunity! It's cute and magical.

I'm gonna politely say I think you're nuts to!
Not necessarily about the gender secret
But a lot of people like me are paying around £150 for a 3d scan!
If you're getting one for free you should look!
It's supposed to be the most amazing thing!
(Apologies if your 3d one is not free!) xx
I think it's really sweet how you're keeping the gender a surprise, I'd love that moment of hearing 'It's a boy/girl'
But I'm too impatient and want to have clothes etc all prepared haha.
Kudos xx
