20 week scan countdown-who wants to join in the wait for theirs?!

Good luck Whigfield! :) update when you can

Well.. He's still a boy, and seems to be all healthy, which is great! We just had a really shitty sonographer.

The first mistake in my opinion was that the scan was booked for a Friday afternoon and with a young sonographer. As soon as we were in we felt rushed, and once she put the wand on my belly and saw the position baby was in you could see the look of annoyance on her face. She said that baby wasn't very "photogenic" so "don't expect many nice pictures" and complained a lot that he was floating on his front. She was extremely rough and my stomach feels bruised and sore today, and after she had taken all the measurements (all the while complaining all the way), she then went to attempt to take a picture or two for us. Now really, I'd much rather little Finn was okay and happy in that knowledge than worry about a stupid picture. But he was still laying on his front and all of a sudden she started hitting my stomach really hard. I saw him shoot his arms out in fright (I guess when your world is collapsing around you you kind of want to stop that happening? :nope:) and she kept doing it until he flipped over. She then laughed and mentioned how she had just "bullied" him and got a pic or two, but they "weren't great". Yeah - how about you DON'T do that.. Ever, ever again?! For the majority of the scan poor Finn had his hands over his ears and I just feel like a terrible person for not stopping her or saying something, like I've let my little boy down. :nope:

Oh Whigfield, that sounds rubbish. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I felt a bit like that with my 12 week scan, she just didn't seem to be bothered explaining things and was quite rough. I was bruised afterwards. Could you tell your mw? The sonographers name will be in your notes?

I had my scan yesterday too. Everything is looking good. Was amazing how much detail you can see. She showed us the blood going through the heart and into the cord. Amazing. Still team yellow :)

Oh lovely :-(
I'm so cross for you for your awful experience. Was this trainee not being overseen?
She shouldn't have been so rough. Sometimes they need to press down slightly to get the right angle, but they shouldn't leave you bruised and certainly not hit you belly.

Don't worry about your little boy. He will be fine...you haven't let him down, YOU we're let down.
He will have forgotten about the prodding soon after you left the room. :hugs:

I'd maybe have a word with your midwife and mention your concern at this trainees behaviour.

Glad he all seems well and is still a boy :flower: lovely scan pic

Omg that is shocking!! I'd be making a complaint! Glad your little boy is healthy tho xx

My next scan is in 4 sleeps, my third one this month. This time to check the blood flow, hope to get s picture this time x

Oh my goodness that is shocking, I am so sorry :(

I'm getting closer, 2 days to go for me :) xx

Scan this morning was great! It's a...boy!! So so happy, everything measured perfect and ds is one happy big brother :)

Uhg if someone did that to my baby / belly I'd have a hard time not sockin' em... Lol... But seriously wtf?

My ultrasound is in exactly a week! Omgosh! I have two girls already... SO a boy would be awesome! But I won't be too too disappointed if it's a girl. As long as he or she is healthy :)

Mine is in 2 days. I already went for an early scan where the sonographer said it was a boy, but more pictures and more confirmation is always nice c:
