Very upsetting stuff. We're now into our 2nd year TTC, I have 1 blocked tube, never BFP. Apparently there is only have a 12% chance of natural conception in 2nd year for people of my age (32). IUI is now totally out of the question and IVF is the only way to go. So its 2 IVFs courtesy of the NHS. We reach the top of the list April 2013 and they said treatment usually start 3 months later. So I'll be 34 and 2 months by the time I can 'try' for my baby.

I really don't think I can last until then. If we want to go private its £3500 at the nHS hospital they don't tend to have brilliant success rates and the Prof put that down to the lab- as the quality of the equipment has a lot to do with it.

GCRM are £5k a go, but for my age range the success rates are 46%. He did state that the demographics of people is what makes a huge difference to the success rate. Those paying 5K tend to be non smokers, in very good health, professional etc etc. We kinda fall into that bracket (although at the bottom end of professional- prob couldn't afford it).

This is my 2nd lowest point in TTC. Still don't feel as bad as I did when found out DH's sis had an 'accident'.

I'm ranting again!! This time through sobs.

so sorry your having a tough time.

Have you ever considered egg sharing? This can reduce your costs dramatically and would be worth looking into.
I think it is quite nice too, your getting treatment and your also helping another women (& couple) get her dream too by sharing your eggs.

sorry to hear that cooch. what is your next step?

Next steps- wait and see what the Napro doc wants us to do. Have been crying on and off all night now. Suppose there is still hope.

Hey Cooch :hugs:

It bugs me about the waiting lists for NHS treatment!

Where do you live? I live in the North East and my local hospital had a 3 year waiting list for IVF but I got my doctor to refer me to another clinic close by that didn't have a waiting list. The success rates are actually better at my clinic, I've just been unfortunate. Might be an option to see if there is any other clinic you could try.

Some clinics e.g. London Women's Clinic do 3 for 2 on IVF so if you were going to pay that might be another option for you. They have clinics all across the UK.

Been reading up on NaPro, sounds interesting. Maybe you won't need IVF?

Thinking of you,
H xx

Oh, I feel for you. I have just been diagnosed with unexplained fertility after 18months and told they won't even consider me for IVF until we've been trying 3 years. It's so hard. I am 30 but my husband is 42 and I really don't want him to be pushing 50 by the time we have our first baby. I am busy saving for IVF and just going to work with ££ signs in my eyes!

Good luck x

I feel for you hun, i do agree with the above post about the egg sharing, you can get one more free go and help someone else who is feeling just like you right now at the same time.

I am 33 and not even on the IVF list yet, we only get one go in our area, I am not letting them beat me though i will find a way, if its egg sharing or going abroad for treatment, I will do it.

Who has told you, that there is only a 12% chance? MY DR never said this to me, she stays quite positive. I have been on this board for the past year and I have seen loads of ladies get a BFP who have had to wait over one year, every one on here has been TTC for a least a year, and many of them in the time i have been here have gotten pregg. It can take a normal couple 18 months and if you have one tube that might mean it takes you longer, which i know is no comfort, but it still might happen for you, you have that one open tube there is still a chance. My friend lost a tube due to an ectopic and she is pregnant, it did take her a while but it happened.

I feel the same despair as you, i really do, but I do think theres still hope for people like me and you and others on here, please don't give up just yet, NAPRO might help you? You are not out yet.

(((((HUGS)))))

Hi all, Im sorry to hear about your news. Thats the NHS for you I went to my appointment on monday to get told something similar have been on Clomid and had a lap and everything is now working fine so we fall into the unexplained category and will have to wait for 12 months for an appoinment with the NHS. As I am impatient this is not an option we are looking at treatment abroad as its so much cheaper and had friends that have had positive results. Fxd and good luck x
