30 and TTC #1 with Long 6 Week Cycle

Congrats on your marriage!! I know, it's so hard not to read into every symptom. I'm just finishing my third cycle TTC. My husband and I got married in 2008 and have been together since 2002. So we've been waiting a long time to TTC! I was focused on my career and the husband was still figuring out his. We started now because we realized that we didn't want to keep waiting until the "perfect time". There is no perfect time, and we want to have kids while we're both younger and healthy.

I was on the pill 11 years and went off in late May. My cycles since have been 6 weeks and steadily getting longer by a day each time. I didn't have this long of a cycle before, so I really hope that eventually it will shorten. But because it's pretty regular, I've been told that there's nothing wrong and I should be able to conceive just fine.

Exciting that you're right in your fertile window! FX it was a lucky month! I really hope AF comes today for me. Today is CD 46.

Congrats on getting married. I just turned 30 last week and I have been with my husband for 11.5 years. We met when I was 18 and married 4 years ago. He is now 32 and it feels like I can't remember a time we were not together and interestingly enough, in the 11.5 years we have met, there is only one other couple who have stayed together that were together in the same time (if that makes sense). We started talking about TTC about 1 year ago and made the plunge to start trying on our 4 year anniversary (this last June). We started too late in the cycle for it to count, so this is I guess our 5th month ttc, but I only count 3 of those months due to timing of bd. I stopped using birth control 5.5 years ago and we did use the withdrawal and natural family planning methods of birth control with no errors or even inklings of errors (lucky me :( ). We are I guess more actively trying than we have but I knew it could take a while, so now I am thinking positive thoughts ......

Cutestuff - Your story sounds just like mine!

Well, no AF yet. Which means this is my longest cycle since coming off the pill. So this next cycle, I'm going to really track everything and temping. I bought a digital thermometer from Rite Aid. I'm worried that I have all of the ovulation symptoms but I'm not actually ovulating. I've been researching online and with cycles as long as mine, that's often the case. So I'll do that for the next month and if I don't conceive, I'm going to make a fertility appointment and get a second opinion. The nurse practitioner I saw last month said that if I have a period, it means I ovulated. But from what I've seen on these forums and articles, that's not true.

So FX that I'm ovulating and this month is lucky!!

We just got married in April as I said, but have been together for about 8 years. So it has been quite a while for us too! That's why we didn't wait too long after we got married.

I haven't been to the dr yet but with such long cycles maybe I should check in if it doesn't happen this month.

Well I think I'm in my tww now girls! My cycle seems to be a bit behind yours. This cycle seems different than my last one, I think we dtd more around the right time this time since last cycle I think we were trying a bit early and then missed some chances closer to when I was likely ovulating. But we've only missed a few days in the last two weeks so hopefully that works!

Last month I felt crazy symptoms but no luck, so far I feel totally normal this time though. But I'm sure it's too early to feel anything. And I think last cycle it was probably just crazy hormones from coming off bcp.

Wish me luck!

Fingers crossed, crazycat!! At least you know you have it your best shot this month :).

Still no AF for me, and this is actually CD49. BUT! I found on these forums some recommendations for Vitex, which is a natural herbal remedy for people with long or irregular cycles like me. It helps the body regulate itself and is pretty safe, even according to WebMD. It's only $12 for 2 bottles of pills on Amazon, and there are so many positive reviews from people with even longer cycles than mine who after a month or two had 30-day cycles, and most got their BFP within a couple of months!! I'm so freakin' excited I could cry. I don't think its too good to be true since there are tons of success stories, but there's always a chance that it won't work on me.

I sholld get it on Friday because of the holiday tomorrow. I'm just not sure whether I should start taking it right away or wait until AF arrives so that I'm on a fresh new cycle. I've been feeling AF symptoms so hoping it's later today or tomorrow. I usually have AF symptoms for a few days before it actually starts.

I'll let you know how it goes with Vitex, but I am very happy and hopeful!!

Hey guys! Sorry if this is a duplicate from another thread, but wanted to post here too :).

Yesterday I took 2 tablets of Vitex and today AF arrived!! I think it's related because I haven't felt any AF symptoms the last 2 days. I also had a massage yesterday, so maybe that helped? I don't know, but I'm finally on a new cycle! I just took 3 tablets this morning. I'll keep you guys posted about any side effects. I'm really hoping I ovulate in 2 weeks from now instead of over 3 weeks!! This cycle was officially 51 days.

I've also been sick with a cold. My whole family has been sick. But, I'm feeling happy today. Funny how being on my period could make me happy!

How are you guys doing?

Good. I am happy you got your period but sorry your sick. I am frustrated. I took a chance and told someone else about my ttc and lack of bfp and her resposnse was fine until she said she got pregnant the first time she tried and she waas fertile mertile cause all she had to do was think about it and she was pregnant. Its so hard to feel positive when others seem to get pregnant so easily and it is taking longer for me. I hope this is my month but don't want to get my hopes up. How r u guys?

I totally get that feeling happy about af! At least it means you can start trying again soon!

I know! It feels like ever since I started ttc I see babies everywhere and everyone's getting pregnant!

How long have you guys been ttc?

This is my 6 month ttc. Hope I get a bfp soon but its hard to stay positive and hopeful. You?

Second cycle... But started trying mid sept so cycles don't quite match up to months!

My Dh is dying to have a baby! Hope it happens soon!

So AF is done and I've been on Vitex for a week. No side effects so far! It's too early to tell if I'll ovulate earlier this month but I'm hopeful. :)

I guess I never replied to crazycatlady's question. This will be my 4th cycle TTC, which translates to almost 5 months.

It's been quiet on my normal threads. How are things with you guys? Anyone ovulating or in the TWW??

I'm in tww.... Hate it!

Took a hpt tonight and bfn :( :( :(

With long cycles I'm not sure if I tested too early or not? I'm hoping I'm not out. It's only my second month ttc so not sure how long my cycles should be yet. Last month was 40 days so if I go by that I'm due for af on Saturday. So do you think I'm out or still hold out hope for bfp?

I'm sorry about your bfn :(. You're never officially out until AF arrives! Also I've seen other ladies who didn't get BFPs until 15dpo or even longer, so it's still possible! But I would wait to see if AF arrives before taking another test. Especially if you haven't had any crazy symptoms. At least you only have to wait a couple of days :). And if Vitex works for me to shorten my now 7-week cycles, maybe you might want to try it to shorten your 40-day cycles!

Yeah if I am out this month I will go to the dr I think, these cycles are too long! I'm at the end of week six now and doesn't feel like af is on it's way yet :s

My boobs have been off and on sore, still have a stuffy nose, bit if butterfly feeling and some soreness in my belly, and had sharp pain in right side during bd the other day. Those are my recent symptoms..

This last month I had a pain in my belly too that would happen maybe once a day. And I got the sharp pelvic pain in the right side every now and again. If you go to your doctor, maybe ask her/his opinion on Vitex? I haven't asked my doctor about it but I'm curious why when I asked if there was a vitamin that would help regulate my cycles they said no. I mean, you can find it at places like Sprouts and it works for so many people. Seems odd that it wouldn't be more widely known. I guess I'm just frustrated that it took so long of feeling like there was nothing I could do about the long cycles and my doctor had no advice.

Hoping you either get AF or a BFP very soon! Waiting is the worst.

Af is due today according to my app but no sign of her, and doesn't feel like it's on it's way. Hoping for a bfp!

Do you track cm? I might try next month to have a more accurate idea of when I'm ovulating.

Yeah if I go to the dr I will ask and let you know!

Fingers crossed for your BFP!!!

I do track CM using my Ovia app. My fertile CM is pretty obvious and abundant, so it's hard to miss. It's the only way I could tell that I ovulated during the 3rd week and then had a 3-4 week luteal phase. I think it's definitely worth tracking :).
