30 and TTC #1 with Long 6 Week Cycle

Yes, for temping you should do it first thing in the morning. A lot of people do it before they get out of bed, but my thermometer beeps so I do it first thing in the bathroom so I don't wake my husband. OPKs are best in the morning so your pee is the most concentrated, but you can do it anytime as long as you haven't had a bunch of liquids. They recommend not drinking anything for 4 hours before the test.

You could BD every other day and still be covered. But I know how you feel - I feel more confident if we BD every day during the fertile window!

My New Years was nice and relaxed - only had 2 glasses of wine but wasn't really in the mood for more. We played board games with friends and ate pizza. Our typical NYE but I love it. How was yours? No AF yet but all morning I've felt it coming on strong. I hope it'll be here later today. Woo, only CD 35 this time! A 2-week improvement!

No af yet could mean you're pregnant!! Fx!

Ours was relaxed too - Chinese food and a movie with a couple friends. We're not big partying types so was perfect for us.

Yeah I feel more covered with every day! Hoping this cycle is it! My Dh is on board too (obviously haha), but also because he is dying to be a dad! How is yours through the whole process?

Yesterday I had little pains in my boobs and they felt full, and then I thought I was imagining it because later I didn't feel it. But my temp is still rising and I still have creamy CM, so now I'm thinking maybe I am pregnant! Eeeeek! I was going to test last night but made myself wait one more day. All of my previous cycles had a really long luteal phase, like 3-4 weeks, so 17dpo isn't crazy weird. But since I'm on Vitex, which has definitely helped my cycle, then I don't know. I never had much of the sore boobs thing before, and it's only been a tiny bit but still different. I'll test this afternoon when my husband gets home. Weird because of the BFN on the FRER at 13dpo. Trying not to get my hopes up too high because my body has played tricks on me before.

Your New Year's sounds perfect. We're not partying types either - never have been. We got together just after high school, and have been together more than 12 years, so we love snuggling up for a movie or just hanging out with a couple of friends at home.

I hope this is it for you too! My husband is a bit more nervous about being a dad, though he really wants it too. He's always been a little nervous with change. He said that most of the time he feels very impatient that it hasn't happened yet and is sad right along with me with every passing month that we get BFNs, but then other times he gets little flurries of nervousness. He said he knows when we get our positive test he's going to have that moment of "holy crap", ha ha. But he said he'll also be relieved and happy that it finally happened. He wants us to have kids while we're young and our parents and healthy so they can enjoy their grandkids too. Also my sister already has 3 kids and his sister has 3 kids too, and he doesn't want our kids to be too much younger because then they won't grow up together. A lot of times he thinks I'm a little nutty with my temping and OPKs and this forum, but that's just because he doesn't fully understand how it feels. He's been great and very supportive though. He says whatever we need to do to make it happen, he's all for it. Yeah, I just think he thinks I worry too much. :)

Did you test??? I hope you get your bfp! I've heard of others getting a couple bfns first and then testing positive. My friend who's pregnant said she didn't feel too many symptoms first and then got her bfp.

How old are you guys?

My husband and I are both 29, turning 30 this year. We've been together for 8 years.

Not yet. Husband was very tired after work yesterday, and then we were watching a tv show that put us in a weird mood so we didn't think it was the right time to test, lol. Testing this morning!! That's encouraging to know about your friend. I usually feel like a BFN means I'm out for this cycle, and I get really sad. It's hard to think that I could still get a BFP a few days later.

I've been having a backache since yesterday. Feels like when I don't drink enough water so my kidneys hurt. Or also like a muscle ache. There's no reason for it I can think of, so I'm hoping it's a sign! Also one symptom that's been persistent every day for over a week is gas. That's my biggest clue besides high temps and still creamy CM. I'll let you know one way or the other! Just waiting for the husband to wake up. We're in California so it's only 8:17.

I'm 30 and my husband is 31 :).

You're not out until af shows up! Symptoms do sound promising! Had coffee with my pregnant friend today and all she's really experienced is her breasts getting larger.

We're on the west coast too, Canada though.

I'm feeling so impatient again with the long cycles, I won't be able to test till the end of the month. Af not due till the 23rd.

Thanks :). I feel like a lot of the symptoms have stopped, or were in my head. Still gassy and backache but nothing with boobs. CM is still there but not a ton. Hoping AF arrives so I at least had a shorter cycle. Today is CD 38. If I make it to 42 days, then I won't have cut my cycle to the shortest since BCP. Temp has leveled out at 98.5-98.6. In the evenings, it's been 99 or above. If I get AF as expected, I might not temp next cycle because it only gave me false hope.

Do you think you're post ovulation? FX this is your lucky cycle!!

With temping have you felt like you knew when you were ovulating?

I don't think so yet, one of my apps says the ninth, and that would be exactly two weeks before my period is expected so I'm going to treat this whole week like I'm ovulating just to be safe! I figure if I assume later rather than earlier then I won't go as crazy obsessing over symptoms and buying hpts!

Which hpt did you use last time?

I am brand spanking new to forums and discussing this topic at all, so I hope this isn't poor etiquette to jump in on your thread. I have read your posts and I feel like I know what y'all are going through! I have been off bc for 6 months. The first 4 months, I had completely normal 31 day cycles (with ovulation, I believe), but we were just kinda waiting at that point for my body to normalize. My husband and I finally were fully ready to commit to trying in December. I started a few days early and very light flow on Dec 22. As you know, that can be a sign of pregnancy, so I started taking tests then. All no's. Based on the app I downloaded, I started testing for ovulation in January, as it was my first time to actually time it out and be conscious of everything going on. After 10 days of negative ovulation tests and DTD many of those nights any way, I was convinced I just had taken the tests wrong. Fast forward to the day I expected AF, absolutely nothing. Along with a BFN, several actually, and a confirmed BFN with a blood test at my doctor. Yesterday marks 2 weeks since I was supposed to have AF and still nothing. Right now, I'm at CD46. I have a doctor appt for Feb 18, but I'm going a little crazy waiting for things to just start. This is so not normal for me and I feel extremely out of control. Even with the negatives, I felt like there was a chance for the first 10 days that I could be, but the blood test proved me very wrong. I wish you both luck. I see you have not updated in a month, so I am hoping that means good news!

Hi TexMel! Of course, you are welcome to jump in. Crazycatlady5 and I are actually usually on another thread, so that's why we haven't posted on this one for a while. You're welcome to join us over there too - it's a group of ladies with long cycles, so we can all relate to your story :flower:. Here's the thread: https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/two-week-wait/2271061-long-cycles-tww-22.html

I've seen another couple of ladies on here that had pretty regular cycles and then one cycle was crazy long, just like you're going through. I think a couple of them ended up finally getting AF, and a couple got some medicine from their doctor to bring on AF so they could start a new cycle (I can't find what it's called, though - possibly femara?). Also, some other ladies have tried drinking spearmint tea and that helped bring on a missing AF. I've been using Vitex, but my cycles were steadily getting longer. It worked for me, though!

Which app are you using? I like the Ovia one myself. I couldn't get the hang of Fertility Friend.

As for me, I'm 14dpo today but too afraid to test and see a BFN - not much symptoms this cycle. Vitex has really helped get my cycles into a more normal range, and I had my hormone levels tested at the doctor a week ago and everything is in the normal range except testosterone is slightly high. So, I guess it's just the waiting game for me. I'll be testing on Saturday if no AF, which will be CD 30 :). Much better than my longest cycle at 51 days!

Yes join us on the other thread, few more girls there going through the same thing too, I haven't been on much the past week since I'm waiting to ovulate, I'm sure I'll be over analyzing everything again though once I'm in the two week wait!
