31 weeks but height fundus is 38cm/weeks?

i had my measurements at 25 weeks & they measured me 32 i nearly died hahaha but scan confirmed baby not that big ;)

I've just been told the same thing today at my midwife appointment. 31weeks measuring 36cm. i have a scan booked in for 3weeks time anyway as I'm overweight and I had a normal GTT test 3weeks ago. My midwife just warned me they may want to do another GTT test after they see what is going on with the scan. Bubs seems to be fine and happy otherwise, but I do worry about him :(

How come there making you wait 3 weeks? That isn't good... they wanted me to have mine done on the day they told me.xxx

I have been booked in for a scan in 3 weeks time since they did my 20week scan. there were 2 midwives at my appointment, one said "should we try and get her in sooner for a scan" and the other (my assigned midwife) said no its ok leave it till the 3week appointment. I was kinda assuming they either werent THAT worried he is measuring too big or they know that they wouldnt have any appointments much sooner.

They didnt tell me how much bigger he was just that "i exceed the measurements for my dates" I Googled it and it says the cm measurement should be the same as your weeks, which means he measured 3cm too big at my 28week appointment (and they said nothing) and this time round he now measures 5cm too big. All my scans and blood tests have been fine, ive had no side affects throughout the whole pregnancy so kinda hoping she measured wrong or I have a lot of water etc.

I dont like that they can be so blase about these things, its almost like a throwaway comment "oh you may need another GTT he's measuring too big" do they not realise I'm going to sit and worry all the time now till the 34week scan??

I know making you wait all that time to put more stress on you and baby, 2cm either way is normal but 3 or more shouldn't be ignored at all. Where I'm 7cm more she was worried, which I am too, but even its prob just water..app is at 10 am today.. my stomach is really playing up with my nerves. I had a gtt test as well n same as you all clear n no problems throughout not even morning sickness.. apart from a hernia and uti thats all I had which is brilliant I think, considering some women suffer all the way through. Hopefully we both just got loads of water and with that the baby will flush out well and were have a nice easy birth ;)

I hope so too, good luck!! :flower:

flush out well!!!! that made me laugh !! makes it sound like the log flume !!!!

Hey all,
Just got back the silly midwife yesterday measured me wrong... I had a midwife n Doctor at different hopsital both measure me today and both came out the same. I'm 31 weeks 4 days pregnant and measure 31-32cm so near on perfect, so any women that have had this as a first I wouldn't worry like I did, there obviously not accurate enough. Always get a second opinion..

aw glad alls well stupid mw !! i hate it when a different mw measures me they always do it a different way and i dont think its accurate unless the same mw does it !!

yaaay, im glad everything is fine, i dont feel quite so worried about my LO now. I dont see why they insist on measuring if its not accurate - just causes more worries in my opinion.

I thought the same thing, I mean it put me through enough worry n its my 3rd pregnancy..If its your first you never know what to expect and they told me that 1st time, I be crying with worry. She should of got another midwife in to confirm her measurement but she didn't she went straight to receptionist n started to row with her over appointments.. Hope I don't get her again.. Do you think I should complain next visit? its a bit worrying she maybe putting other girls in worry too.

Midnight_Moon I'm sure your be fine too..let us know how you get on in a few weeks. xxxx The midwife that saw me today said a lot of midwifes get measurements wrong as they feel the stomach and mistake the diaphragm for the fundus...something along those lines, also depends how you were lying on the bed when you are measure, if your slightly at an angle rather than straight it could bring up a bigger reading..

Thank you for all that's been supportive xxx:flower:

Glad you are not growing a giant :happydance:

Just to note, I have been measured by 3 different people this week and it has ranged from 28-31 depending on the person :dohh:

OMG hun I can't beleive the MW messed up that much :nope: thats shocking!! Get a new MW if u can!!!

And Midnight Moon try not to worry hun, I have measured big all along and my GTT tests came back fine! I'm far from obese, but I am a ''curvy'' lady :haha: UK 16 pre-pregnancy! My consultant even said that altho my FH was 3/4cms more than it should have been, I'm bound to have a bigger baby than a much smaller woman - that makes sense!! Anyway, I had to wait 2wks for my growth scan, worried the whole time, and finally my mind was put at rest - baby wasn't overly large!! They did tell me that they expected her birth weight to be 9lb+ but it wasn't anything to worry about as a) growth scans aren't 100%, they usually are a couple of lbs out and b) i'm a big girl!! x

Babys position can skew measurments temporarily also.

i would venture to say that your dates are slightly off or you have polyhydraminos (extra fluid) but the scan will tell ya what ya need to do.
